"Results" of the- Prednizone Dose "Survey"- 5mg vs 10mg per day

So...what I learned:

1. Yes, guys do take 5mg of Prednizone a day while on Lupron/Zytiga.

2. 5mgs may be enough or it may not be- monitor blood lab results( monitor potassium, BP and edema). Each person responds differently.

3. It is unknown whether the skin will take longer to develop thinness/bruises on 5 mgs vs 10 mgs.

4. Seems like hormone sensitive guys are more likely to be on 5 mg/day, while castrate resistant guys are on 10 mgs/day. (Wonder why? Cancer "burden"?)

5. Take 10mgs when "doing" Docetaxel.

6. Going "off" Prednizone could be a "rough road". Taper off slowly.

Thanks all,

Craig

Thanks for sharing - interesting analysis. I started ADT+Zytiga last November at 10mg Prednisone and my ALT liver enzyme ran hot and I was feeling a little toxic (hungover, kind of) so my MD cut me back to 5mg and its been fine since. I'm still hormone sensitive, GS4+3 with RALP last August and persistent PSA that led to the EBRT + ADT+ Zytiga + Prednisone.

Thank you Craig. Are you a sculptor btw?

age? location? Voluntary.

I just had to repeat the following from one of your posts:

" feel like I ate 12 boxes of Cheese Puffs, horrible, just horrible "

I know you didn't mean for that to be funny but "it is funny" Thanks for the laugh...

Dear j-o-h-n:

Ceramics. Had a "run in" with Cheese Puffs as a kid. Ate a whole bag. "Side effects" lasted for agonizing hours. Life changing experience.

Regards,

Craig
