Hi All,
A brief of myself:
Diagnosed on 9 October 2017, advanced metas. Pca with gleason score 4+3 (7) and PSA was at 192. No bone mets determined but some lymph nodes detected. Did Chemo in January 2018 for 6 cycles (Taxatore) and last infusion was on April 17, 2018. Been on Lucrin (leuproelin acetate) every 3 months since. My current PSA since April 5th is at 2.02 lowest its ever gone was 1.5
Okay, so today I am on my 25th day of fasting from sunrise till sunset everyday since its the holy month of Ramadan. I know many swear by intermittent fasting. My wife has been wondering if I should be doing it so rigourously and even showed me articles that fasting continuously may even dampened and hurt my immune system. She is very concerned. I feel fine, thirsty most of the day but overall not too bad. A little headaches now and then during the day. Oh, yes fatigue does set in but its manageable. I am currently working as a school teacher[Singapore], (for the last 36 years and counting...). Just submitted my early option to retire, so hopefully will be retired by end of this year
I have another 5 days more to go to the end of the fasting month. Is it alright if I continue or should I listen to my wife and take breaks? On the other hand, its the religious aspect of the fasting process. I did not fast last year since I just came out of my chemotherapy. Ahem...trying to make a pact with my supreme leader to get some life extension if I go the distance....just hoping... Yes, I did check with my oncologist and urologist and both said its fine as long as I stay on my meds and pace myself.
So dear brothers and all the lovely and beautiful caregivers to our brothers, should I stop or just head for the end line...5 days and counting.
My very best to all and my best regards,
Haniff
