Trying my Panacur (hookworm treatment) the way that they suggest for dogs...in my food.

Yesterday in my cereal...today in my slow cooked grits with gouda cheese and truffles.....along side a special Memorial Day breakfast I whipped up. I assume that its okay this way...certainly didn't change the flavor or texture of the delicious grits.

Happy Memorial Day to all!

What's up with hook worm treatment???

Doug.

greatjohn in reply to Shooter1

Hi Doug...it's something that I discovered on Joe's Cancer Blog ....you can see the post below that ITCandy posted... or just google Joe's cancer blog or Panacur and prostate cancer....

or hookworm and prostate cancer....lots of roads lead to Rome. It sounded interesting enough...cheap enough...and safe enough to give it a try. Still in my first 2 weeks of doing it....then the protocol changes...you'll see it all in his (Joe) full blog.

p.s. Happy Memorial Day

I actually cheat, because I do as well...and just fry them with a glass lid on...it cooks the top so that they are like over light (or medium) ~~I don't like runny whites. I just don't like to turn them...as I cook 4 at a time for the two of us...and it usually ends up with a couple of broken yolks (horrors).

Thanks for the quick reference info. sounds like a trip to pets mart may be called for.

I think that you have to go to petmeds.com

Went to petsmed, but don't know what dosage for #200 me. What dosage are you on??

greatjohn in reply to Shooter1

Doug,

just in case you don't see above reply to you....1 gm per day for 2 weeks...then 1 a day for 3 days...off 4...and repeat weekly. Here is the link to Joe's blog...read it and make your own discussions about use and Usage. I don't want to encourage something's use...I just want to let everyone know what I have found and am trying...read and make an informed decision.

That looks wonderful! I have tried to put it in shakes but my husband swears he can taste it. I couldn’t. Tomorrow is day 14 and then he switches to 3 on / 4 off.

I’m wondering if he should consider switching to taking it at night.

greatjohn profile image
greatjohn in reply to HOPEFULSPOUSE

It really is tasteless...in cereal or in these delicious grits...it disappears. I just assumed early is better to have it with fat.

I read about this also and asked a veterinarian. He didn't offer much. I am curious, do you discuss this with your medical team? Is there ever concern about interaciton with some of the supplements? I started Firmagon and am about to start Zytiga. I don't want to stop supplements because they have made me feel better, but I am concerned about the response. All of my labs (with a huge caveat---outside of PSA and PET results) are better than the have been for 15 years or more.

Some on this website and many Doctors do not support the use and expense of supplements.

Anyway, I am curious how you reconcile the issues.

greatjohn profile image
greatjohn in reply to Philly13

I've been think about how to reply to this...I've ready many of your comments I could find to figure out what you're going through and "where you are" on the journey....as to "reconciling" using some extra "magic"..(lol)...not loved or promoted by my Oncologist....I have told him about some. He has the same "blank" expression as when I discuss Xtandi side effects. He and his P.A. Nurse don't like hearing anything negative about anything....He did seem curious about BIRM (since I go to U of Miami Sylvester a teaching hospital that has been studying the efficacy of BIRM for a few years). They both liked that I was using that. They didn't seem to worried about Metformin...I have asked about Indomethacin...and they say they can't prescribe it. I will be talking with my Primary Dr. soon (as per their opinion)....

to ask my oncologist about a dog drug (panacur c) would seem ridiculous...I know what he will say.

I am going to try it through my next pet scan....which they keep doling out ever 3 months (which is a LOT of pet scans)....and if the scans are greatly Improved ....I might mention it to him. If they are worse....I will (most likely) stop the regimen....even the BIRM which is VERY expensive really....I use a little over two 125.00 bottles per month (280.00 is probably about monthly cost). The panacur C is a LOT cheaper and easier to take...The BIRM also tastes nasty and you have to keep it refrigerated...so on trips it's an issue...and you have to do it 3 times per day.

I am the proverbial "skeptic" regarding miracle elixirs...about "eating clean"...about "vegan diets".....I love FOOD...all food...and I have the taste for blood...aka a nice Medium Rare steak or prime rib. We had a friend(and employee) for years who was a strict microbiotic, vegan....and bicycled all the time (fantastically) for his health. He developed a kidney condition and then FAILURE....and the doctor told him while on dialysis that he should eat food. He finally started eating regular food....the last few years of his life he looked better than he had in. years. So I don't know any answers except....everybody's different.

**The reason I started the BIRM was because of the connection to my Hospital.

**The reason I started Hookworm Meds...I accidentally came across a link to Joe's Cancer Blog....and then listened podcast he had done. I liked his voice. He's not making any money (or so he says)...off of his protocol. He seems amazed by it still...and I decided. I want to feel like HE feels.

Good Luck on the journey....it's a winding and treacherous road...almost as dangerous as climbing Mt. Everest...and the air is rarified, but the vistas can be amazing.

Thanks. You got the spirit of the question and the answer is helpful.

The vegan thing is helpful to me. I am not good with moderate behavior. Vegan cold turkey from a protein addict was easier. I now watch the labs carefully and a few things started going low, so I added back egg whites and some seafood. I don't miss steak so I am not tempted to go back there now. i hear you on vegan being a little risky if not watched carefully but heart health is also very important in the battle. I am working on that and watching it carefully also. Thanks again for taking the time to post, respond, and comment.

Loved that comment...for me, I am going to do the Dukoral vaccine, but I have seen people doing this and haven't looked in depth at the clinical studies yet...from what I've read, it works...maybe I am afraid it will bring out the bad dog in me....WOOF !!!

"Is there ever concern about interaciton with some of the supplements? "

That always needs to be a top concern.

Unfortunately, most on oncologists are not sufficiently familiar with exotic supplement pathways to have informed opinions. And even fewer are willing to express those opinions they do have.

The real problem is that any supplement powerful enough to do something, is almost certain to have interactions.

The docs are unwilling, and mostly unable to help with exotic supplements. And there are only 2 or 3 people on this forum with the capability of even attempting to suss out what the likely plausible interactions might be.

And just because something works in a petri dish or on a mouse, really doesn't mean chit. It really doesn't.

You are so right - this is indeed an inspiring story, and his honesty and integrity rings true. Norm, my husband, is currently taking Mebedazole and other things, to complement his prescription meds, but I think we might switch to Joe’s protocol. As he says, it may not work for everyone, but clearly it has worked for some. Wouldn’t it be great to add other names to the list of success stories.

Hi, John. Very interesting. I read a couple of articles on fenbendazole (Panacur) that I found on Google that seem to support that there is at least some efficacy of fenbendazole as an adjunct to conventional therapy for PCa, but I wasn’t able to find any current clinical trials on it. They all seem to believe that at recommended dosages it is very safe for humans to use. Apparently, like curcumin, it has very low bioavailability. One article mentioned taking it with an Omega 3 supplement. It looks like the non-prescription variety is readily available at both brick & mortar and online stores at a fairly reasonable price. What dosage do you use? Are you on the 3 days on/4 days off regimen? Or do you take it daily? How long do you expect to continue taking it?

Have you noticed any side effects? Chasing cars? Uncontrollable barking? Lifting your leg when you pee? Ok...I was being facetious there. 😉Don’t bite my ankle. 🐶🤪😎

I'm just finishing my two weeks of every day (1gram packet) and will be off for 4 days starting Thursday. I plan (to make it easy) to do it Mon/Tues/Wed.....off all week...and repeat.

**The only thing I have noticed is that my bowel movements which are always excellent (through everything even Chemo so far) are now even "more" excellent. If that's possible. It probably does something in the G.I. tract that this might be from. I have felt less "bloated" and gassy....as well. I pay attention to all details about my body. I had a doctor who once acted shocked when I was describing my stools...."OMG...you look at them? I never see mine"....I couldn't believe it. I think everything we feel, smell, taste, crave..and "create" (aka mucous, ear wax, semen-haha, urine and...yes, even POOP tells a story about our over all health. I have been feeling better also...which seems strange because I have been out of BIRM for the past 3 days...I attributed my feeling of more energy to it.

hope that wasn't T.M.I. as they say, but at this point we have to become very vigilant with our bodies...no one know how they feel and react and process like we do.

That hookworm food idea sounded interesting greatjohn so I put some on a plate of fresh spaghetti ( along with those ground up bones , the eye of newt etc ) .... and right away I could see it working because the spaghetti noodles started to crawl right off my plate. Must be some powerful stuff. It’s hard to catch those noodles running scared like that tho. Makes it hard to eat that way. Wooof wooof ......... wooof.

I ordered some empty gelatin capsules on Amazon and have been filling them with the Panacur. Makes it easier when we are out a restaurant too! I add CBD oil to the mix since that seems to be the feedback about getting better absorbtion. One packet of Panacur fills 2 of the size "00" capsules.

Bought online packets for dogs..($53)..Then Cal Farm has 125ml bottle at 500mg/ ml for goats, way cheaper. That's what I will do if any progress shows with Pca. ($28)

Cheaper is good(er)...lol. I'll check that out. Figured that measuring might be difficult on our road trip, train & motor coach tour we have planned for August....for a month. Will be able to consider that after we get back. Thanks.

Didn't read label close enough (need to wear my glasses). 125ml/100mg/ml 2 1/4 cc for 225 mg dose, dogmed 222mg dose. . Still cheaper than dog med.. Look up merck safe-guard (fenbendazole) 125ml and liter bottles available at walmart- 19.99/ Lambert vet supply 114.99 ($1.15 per dose of 1000 mg), both with free shipping. Mine locally was 28.95, you can bet I'll get it on line next time. Free shipping/ no tax.

Countrysidepet.com out of Missouri has Panacur also in addition to many other things that supposedly help block pathways. Asked my immunologist about dewormer and he was aware of it. He was aware of what it does. He also knows that cannabis oil is cytotoxic to cancer cells so I may have to add this to my morning bowl of kibbles!
