I am sorry I have not posted before, but I read often and I appreciate all the great information in here. My husband is stage 4 with mets to seven different bones. He has been on ADT since January, first chemo was last Tuesday, followed 24 hours later by Neulasta.
He had to go to ER on Friday due to severe cramps and blood from his rectum. Then he got a low grade fever and a low white blood cell count. Finally, later Monday, all his vitals seemed good and we thought he would go home Tuesday, only to find that his white blood cell count is now 160,000!
Has anyone else had this happen? What did they do? He is not at the hospital his oncologist works at, which is in Louisville. We live rurally, and that is an hour drive. We were told to go to the closest ER, which is a 30 min drive, but the doctors seems to have little to no experience dealing with chemo/cancer patients.
Any suggestions or information would be appreciated. We have a call in with his oncologist, but we got the news on the blood count too late yesterday to speak to a human. We are waiting on a call back this morning.
