PSA dropped....compression fractures atT11,T12

PSA has dropped from 2.7 to 1.34 ( started at 128). Treatment with Zytiga ( with Prednisolone),Lucrin and Zometa for 6 months. Did my second PSMA and FDG PET/CT in six months.Reduction in intensely of PSMA update. The previous widespread mix lytic sclerotic osseous metastases now appear more sclerotic except stable lesion in C7. There has been some interval development of pathological compression fractures at T11 and T12. The oncologist is quite pleased with progress. I feel well except for the side effects. Any comments and suggestion with regards to the compression fractures at T11 and T12 and C7. God bless

Any update from your Orthopedic surgeon. Would aprreciate your inputs. By the way, I have been continuing three times a week at the gym doing some weight too.

Ortho. surgeon looked at mri scans from before collapse and then took new 2 sided X rays. In consult he said he didn't think he could help me. Also said if collapse caused sudden sharp pain to call immediately and he would refer me to a surgeon who might be able to help me. The way my spine looks with mult. twist, bends, fused sections and mult. collapses, he won't touch it. Chance of major complication 10-15%, chance of minor complications around 60%. Not very good odds for my poor old back. Hope yours is in better shape than mine.

Sorry to hear the situation on your back. Did they recommend any exercises that you could do strengthen it? We will continue to fight this 'beast'. Will pray for you.

Are you on Xgeva (denosumab), BH? This is not a help to your current problem, of course, but I'm curious. - Joe M.

No, I m not on Xgeva . I have been on zometa ( monthly ) and daily intake vit D.

Both are bisphosphonates, BH...your experience is unfortunate that zometa didn't seem to prevent the compression fractures.... As for actual suggestions, you might get some relief with an inversion table (on just a gentle incline, mind, unless you can hang like a bat....I know I can't!)....this may increase blood flow to the area and simply help with natural healing or resistance to fractures. - Joe
