Anyone have any experience with Dr Zhang at Moffitt Cancer Center?

Dr Zhang
My wife and I interviewed Dr. Zhang in July, 2017. We had recently moved here from AZ and I wanted a second opinion on my care plan and an up-to-date radiology study (G 8, metatstatic PCa on Lupron since 2012, hormone sensitive). Dr. Zhang is a very focused and knowledgeable MO; however, I ended up choosing Mark Robbins, MD at Florida Cancer Specialists Institute in Brandon. I much prefer FCSI as you have a sense of more personalized, high touch medical care. I spent 30 years in the health care industry and the big-institution environment does not impress me. I have been very pleased with Mark Robbins. Also, my urologist in Brandon is a big Mark Robbins fan.
Incidentally, I facilitate a PCa Support Group in Brandon twice monthly. Would welcome your participation Joey.

CalBear74,
Thanks for the response. I tried to reply yesterday from my phone but i do not believe it was ever sent. If it was i apologize for the duplication. I also go to FCSI in Ft Myers and Naples. My MO for 10 years was Dr James Reeves. whom i liked very much. He just became head of research at FCSI and no longer sees patients. I now see Dr Abi Add in Naples. I was at Moffitt to apply for a clinical trial for a new PSMA imaging so i had to talk with Dr Zhang. Aside from the clinical trial, he did spend time with me talking about my history. He suggested a treatment plan i might try that i had never hear about before. I will talk this over my my MO at FCSI next week. I had never heard of Dr Zhang before so i was curious about his history. I live in Punta Gorda so i think its a little far to make it to your meeting, but i appreciate the offer and i am sure you are doing good things for us warriors.
I'm a patient of Dr. Zhang for over 2 years. Given two-three months infusions of Eligard which brought my Psa down to undetectable and now on a hormone "vacation" for 16 months. His plan is to wait until my PSA is around 2 and do another axumin scan. I'm not so sure this is a great plan. I also would like to see other patients opinion of Dr. Zhang. G9 with current PSA of .4 Good Luck! Joe
FYI I found this review of Dr. Zhang on the web (for what it's worth).

What People Say About Dr. Jingsong Zhang, MD
Reply
Difficult to communicate with, begrudgingly half answers questions and only if you are very persistent, does not educate patient or simplify disease process or mechanism of action of medication therapies, failed to go over relevant CT scan findings, does not follow through on requests for outside genetic testing, impersonal and dismissive through and through. Extremely disappointing for a physician at a "comprehensive cancer center."
