Hi Kim here again, we went to see the oncologist yesterday and we had some very positive results, my husband had responded really well to the chemo, still a little left in there im afraid, but his oncologist is hoping to get radiation treatment (EBRT),to the prostrate at the Leeds hospital so waiting to hear from them, it will be one weekly treatment for 6weeks,
Has anyone had this treatment, and did you have any bad side effects, or worse ?
Also my husbands PSA level had gone up from 1.5 to 2 the onc wasn't concerned but is there any supplement's that could keep his PSA levels down, I know the Lupron is supposed to do that, but any other recommendations please
Also why is it that when cancer spreads to the bone it cannot be cured, fully ?

Right, got it ! just read the link you gave me, and now much clearer about it all. I am also pretty new to using computers as well, I didn't go on one till I found out about my husbands condition, so you will have to excuse my ignorance.

I feel at the moment that our lives are revolving around the PCa, probably because its all so new to us, I think being able to talk to other people about this is a good thing, as my husband doesn't want to be reminded of it all the time, I know we must try and carry on as normal, but to be honest it never will be normal again.

It will for the moment... that's to be expected...Men like to bury their heads in sand.... I know I'm one of the them... But you gotta live... For me talking about it to my friends is sort of a catharsis but I don't ask for their pity, just of their money. So keep on keeping on... and Laugh so hard it makes you cry. Humor is my Hobby. Take care you're doing great.
While you are waiting for the radiation decision I would like you to know about the costs involved. You might want to check with your health insurance. I live in the USA and I had no health insurance when I was told to have 42 radiations. The hospitals wanted $130,000. So I called around and found a Urology Clinic that had it's own radiology machine that was even newer than the hospital's. I paid $30,000. (what they got reimbursed from Medicare). Then 4 years later I needed 30 more radiations, but I was on Medicare and they charged me $42.00. Stay with it and just so you know I no longer have PCa. Keep asking questions!
Thankyou for your reply, we are lucky enough to have the NHS in the UK so although we have contributed for many years through our taxes, we don't have to pay when we have treatment which we are very grateful for. My husband should receive 6 treatments, one a week for 6 weeks, I am still concerned about side effects, but what else can we do. His cancer is not curable, but the radiation treatment should hopefully help.
