Update in my lymph node metastasis

After 1 3 month Lupron shot and 104 days of Casodex my PSA has dropped from 4.48 to 0.17. I get another Lupron shot on June 3.

I have a question, may be someone can throw some light on it. It is said the metazoic PCa becomes castrate resistant, on the average, in about 2 to 3 years of hormone treatment. How do you count this? Is is cumulative, i.e. total time on hormone? For example, I had hormone treatment for my recurrent cancer for 9 months in 2016-2017. This time, I have been on Lupron since November 30, 2018. Should I say I have completed one year and so expect my cancer to become castrate resistant in one or two more years. I know that people have been on hormone for a very long time without becoming castrate resistant. While others have become castrate resistant in less than a year.

It depends on where in the cancer's evolution it is. Recent evidence is that the cancer becomes castration resistant sooner when ADT is avoided.

I agree with that research .. with an very aggressive pc ADT worked..thus far for me...I got my first shot of firmagon 5 minutes after my dx. I didn’t question it.. for me it’s both a life saver and a demolition ball .. But I’m alive....thanks t-a..

In my case I became castrate resistant after 20 months on continuous ADT with Firmagon and Eligard with a brief period on Casodex too. Some people go much longer. It just depends on when your PSA starts increasing while Testosterone is still at castrate level. When my PSA started rising, it started doubling every 6 weeks, which seemed to concern my doctor quite a bit.

It’s a coin toss in my opinion.. don’t predict the bad side for yourself... You can do better than stats . You’re more than and expiration date . You surely don’t want to tag yourself with a number . Some lucky guys have been on Lupron relatively trouble free they say for 20 yrs. So anything is possible. I believe that the more good stuff that you do for your self now ie diet and exercise and contemplation the better the odds of adding years .. I don’t think anyone can say that they beat #4 APC for good until they do go 20 yrs clear .. QOL now is important .. live well

To me treatments are like pin the tail on the donkey . No rhyme or reason to who does well and who doesn’t... Keep the faith ...☝️

Sounds like you are having very good results to your treatments. I got an orchiectomy and got off ADT drugs forever . Just my choice.
