Penile Rehabilitation

It’s with duress that I post this question....it’s just not who I am!!

Anyway, at some point early on in my treatment, I lost my penis!! I went through the entire XRT with this condition and was absolutely humiliated the entire time!!! I dreaded dropping trow in that room everyday! I know the technicians are profesional, but in my mind, they were behind that wall laughing their asses off!!! A lot of wierd shit goes on in my mind!!!!

Upon completing the 44 treatments, I met with my Urologist. When he asked me how I was doing, I pointed to the poster on the wall (the one with ghe guy cut in half) and said I want to look like that guy again!!! No exam needed, he discribed me to a tee!!! Leads me to believe he could have warned me!!!! Sent me to Mens Health!!!

This brings me to my question! “Penis Pump” / Fact or Fiction!!!!!!! Some kind of sick joke?!!!! Can’t find much info on line, other than guys that are simply trying to get bigger, but little to nothing for rehab.

First of all, its just not me!!!!!! Talking about it......never mind using it!!!! However, I can’t see myself going through the rest of my life the way I am!!! I don’t even let my wife of 45 years see me naked!!! Locker room, no f&$#ing way!!!! Even concerned while wearing swimsuits and summer clothes....can people see me?!!!!!

Secondly, they offered me little to no info regarding where / what to buy if I chose this route!!!! “You can get them on line” they said! Well, looking into it on med sites, they cost more than a high priced call girl, I suspect....($300 to $500). The Other sites are cheeper and come with nipple rings, stupid tee shirts and other stupid shit like that!!! Just not credible to me!!!

I don’t believe that I will use it for a fake erection (I have no interest in sex anyway), just rehab at this point!!!! But if things don’t return to normal, it’s not out of the question I guess!!!!

So, my questions.... what are the comments, experiences, sucesses, failures.......of guys using this treatmen for rehabilitation for this SE to ADT(?( I have realy no idea what caused it! Started realy early in the treatment)).

What to buy and were?

Not going to say “how” except if there is rights and wrongs other than getting caught!!

If nothing else, have fun with this one!!!

Shrinkage is a common side effect of prostatectomy, but also long-term Lupron use can cause it. In either case, the loss of blood flow of nightly erections causes penile tissue to atrophy from disuse. The only hope to recover size is to get the blood flowing again. That's where the pump comes in. Used every day, it can restore blood flow to penile tissues and possibly reverse the atrophy. If it has gone on too long, the tissue will permanently lose its elasticity, so it is important to begin penile rehab early and do it religiously. Trimix injections may be able to provide functional erections. nightly low-dose ED meds may be able to give you those important nighttime erections.

My MO recommended nightly Viagra. He gave me a pharmacy in Canada (‭1 [phone]‬-northwest pharmacy where I get 100 milligram viagra for about 2 bucks a pop. I actually use it about 3 night a week and even tho I’m on lupron for 18 months, I usually wake up with an erection when I do . He says it avoids the atrophy your speak of. I did not have my prostate removed however so not sure if that would work if you have.

I did not opt for surgery and like I said, this accured very early in my treatment. Noticed it before my XRT so that would only be about a couple months of ADT (I don’t recall the exact timeline now)! Before my weight gain too.

The only thing extraordinary is that he hit something when inserting the gold targets / markers (?). The last one he inserted felt like it was going to shot out of my penis. I felt nothing with the others!!! I actually passed a piece of meat with my first urination! About 1/4” round by 1 to 1.5” long. Called the Dr’s who NP told me to watch for blood in my urine so I assumed it hapening was a known posibility!!!

Any possibility that they hit one of the nerves I keep reading about and that was what I felt?!! The nerves that require sparing?!! Any noninvasive way of findind out for sure if there is that possibility?!!

It's possible, but doubtful. There have been a few cases of nerve damage from biopsies, which is similar, but it is very rare. Recovery from any such shock is usually rapid and complete. Even then, it is not even close to the effect of handling and cutting at the nerves that goes on during a prostatectomy. Did you instantly lose all erectile function immediately after the placement?

I hope I was clear, I am refering to a flaccid condition!

A number of years ago, I was diognosied with / treated for coronary artery disease and high blood pressure! Those med’s caused erections to be easily achieved but not long lasting enough for either to finish! With the inability to tollerate the SE’s of, nor afford the cost of ED drugs, and due to complete fustration, we put our love making on the back burner!!

But yes, in the absence of stimulated erections, “morning wood” was still present prior to the starting of my PA treatments!!!

Once again, I can’t distinguish when, what or why, but in a short amount of time, I went from a regular man (I’ve changed up in a few locker-rooms!) to something far far less!!! It was not my imagination when “sitting” on the john and pissing all over my pants!!! At first, in my mind, I thought it was just my nerves until I wasn’t nervious anymore!!

Sorry!!!

I originally just wanted to through it out there to check the possibilities of nerve damage and if yhere is any action to correct!! Not to vent!!!

Jim you did the same treatment as me. I had rt only and I have those gold markers too. I think your guy F’d up on that one. Mine was uneventful..After removing the tubes and stints I started getting night wood like a dam 15 yr old boy . The things that I feel might be driving this are 20mg melatonin 4.5 naltrexone and high thc oil. Somehow this combo has awakened my nighttime libido . I get up 6 times a night with a piss hard on . I wasn’t like that for years prior to dx ?? And I chose also to chop the boys .???My wife doesn’t find any of this attractive . Its like night dreams night sweats.. not really romantic .. But I , like you, don’t even think about sex during daylight hours . Never crosses my mind. I lie dormant.I was a bit of a sex addict and a bachelor up until pc.. The worse loss for me is not just sex . It’s the total loss of intimacy and touching . She lost attraction to me. I’m not attractive to myself do I understand that one. Plus My wife’s scared to touch me after seeing first hand all of the weird procedures done to me . She saw the gold markers implanted and worse . Lose weight if you need to . Stay in shape if you can . My Pc specialist told me that rt on top of adt was the nail in my coffin for getting wood . I’m elated he was wrong . I think 99% of the guys have Ed. I’m just a freak for some odd reason . Don’t go nuts over this either way . Work on your spiritual life . Its more important than our penis and cancer woes.. Our lifes are shortened . This makes each day much more valuable. That’s a fantastic family photo. Love them up !😎

I was put on daily low dose ED med, Cialis, right after surgery. (Another choice was Viagra.) I was able to get 30 days free from mfg's website and a relative gave me another 30 day supply. I stopped with meds after 60 days.

I also purchased a cheapo penile pump online and used it regularly for the first 6 months or so, under the principle of "use it or lose it". The meds and the pump are both intended to increase the penile blood flow that has been disrupted by the surgery. After about a year I regained about 80% of my pre-surgery erections and have maintained that for the last two years. I also did 8 weeks of IMRT about 3 months post-surgery, so at age 70 feel I likely have gotten much better than average results. While I still have the pump, I haven't had reason to use it for the last two years.

I have a much younger relative who had RP surgery and needs mechanical (pump) and drug assistance for sex with his wife. He got a deluxe electric pump complete with accessories & case. He also never regained full continence, but has managed to carry on in spite of these major assaults to his "manhood" with an amazingly positive attitude. (A good role model for all of us.) Surgeon skill and extent of cancer no doubt play a major role in ED and incontinence outcomes.

I only did one 3 month ADT treatment, and even though that short treatment seemed to shrink the equipment, it didn't seem to affect erections. Your and other's mileage may vary from mine. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. Be Well - cujoe

My husaband got a pricey pump with an electric pump and a manual option through a referral from the urology clinic. It worked very well (had tried a cheap one earlier without success). I would HIGHLY recommend the investment. The manual option is best if you’re dealing with any incontinence because a little leakage will harm the motorized pump. He liked the manual action better anyway.

We used it prior to his beginning ADT, but after he started ADT the combination of lowered libido but mostly his distress about dealing with persistent post surgical incontinence has made him not really feel like using the pump, which makes me sad, but I understand. The leakage doesn’t bother me...I bought good washable waterproof pads to protect bedding. He has suffered some loss of size after surgery and also says sometimes he feels like it disappears, but the pump still worked well enough for us to have a very satisfying “encounter.” The closeness is as important as the passion.

If I may ask a question to others in your thread, I’m worried that since he’s gone six months without using the pump is it too late? Can he still rebuild tissue if he starts now?

It’ll be interesting to see the response to your question! It was never stressed to me, the urgency of getting the rehab started until now! I’m @18months now without it and fear for the worst!!!

Tried pills , tried Trimix, tried other injections, all no go, got soft/short dirration results. Full length, but not usable. With pump ring holding blood in, works OK.

I have used a penis pump. I found that using it every day for about ten minutes is beneficial. I have read that using low dose cialis or viagra on a daily basis should also help but I have not done this myself.

What I did when I first got my pump was to tell my wife about it. It is a tad embarrassing to demonstrate the first time but you have to realize that your spouse knows you and cares for you and will be supportive. There should be no need to hide it.

I see the pump solely as a rehab tool, not as a sexual gratification device. I guess that some might be able to use it to achieve orgasm but I am not among them. It fact, using the pump is uncomfortable at times so be careful not to overdo the vacuum.

The irony of getting screwed while buying a penis pump is crazy!!!

Reordered and did have that dialogue with the wife, it went as you stated. Sometimes (lately), my mind is my own worst enemy!!! Finally got my head wrapped around using it have started therapy.

I think that Tall_Allen has described it well. My Men's Health Center starts with the pump and with triple-P gel and with a talk about how Viagra, etc. are not effective until the nerves start working again (IF they do). The "erection" from the pump is not the real deal as it is venous blood and not arterial blood. But there is presumably benefit in stretching the tissues and trying to prevent atrophy. The local (Providence RI) Men's Health Center also trains for Triple-P injections.

I didn’t think this PCa treatment could be more emasculating but....hold my beer!!! Pump it up and rub one out, as often as possible!!! You got to be shitting me!!!!

Bottom line is I love my wife. I can’t imagine asking her to do it for me plus her tweesers have sharp edges. Plus, I do what I can so she doesn’t see me naked and we don’t sleep togethed because of this and my extreamly painful man boobs. I would do anything for her and anything to make love again, So....the beat goes on (get it??)!!!!

Sleeping in the spare room doesn’t really bother me with my ZERO labito (right), but not sure about her!! I often wonder!!!!

She gets to go to work everyday whereas I got fired!! She works in a mans world (civil engineering) and I find myself questioning her fidelity where I haven't in 45 years. That thought effect my dreams as well, waking up pissed off at her for no reason!!! Can’t talk to her about it because of its absurdity of it all!!!

Anyway, its been about 18mo’s like this and ADT is coming to an end!! God willing, libido will return, rehab will be sucessfull and the PSA behaves itself so I don’t go back to square one.

And yes, I recently started anxiety meds and I am seaking a check up from the neck up!!!!

I speak to you as a wife, also 45 years old. I love my husband as I suppose your wife loves you. Unconditionally. The disease has been a hard blow for us but at the same time it has united us, we are paddling in the same direction, jumping any wave with which our ship is located. His body is my body when he needs it (in the sense that I do not feel bad about having to do certain things like putting enemas, healing anal cracks, etc etc), his worries are mine and what matters least to me right now is having sex, I prefer millions of times to be by his side. With what, my friend, do not get mad at her. If it is by your side it is because it loves you with madness. And ... hell! What laziness now to meet other guys!

Hay, what do you got to lose but.....well.... your cock!!!! I was about 1 year or so into ADT before I started rehab. I saw NO improvement while on Eligard!! I’m coming up on a year since when the juice “should” have run its course. My T did rebound slightly between June and now to @103. Still very low by any standards!!! The low dose Viagra seams to help as my ADT is becoming a thing of the past. It gets oxygenated blood into your meat which is better than the dead blood in the pump. Tried that (the pump) once..... just once!!! it sucked my “good ball” (singular(the other was hiding up into my stomach somewhere)) up through a hole that wasn’t big enough for both the ball and my penis (?(for lack of another term)). MF that hurt!!!

Anyway, it’s about half way there if it continues to recover in both length and girth. Plus it will look bigger once I loose the 60 pounds I gained on ADT. Just like dating a girl with small hands!!!!
