BIRM diary

PSA 3 weeks BEFORE starting 0.88 with Much

Improved Axumin Pet Scan from Xtandi/Lupron.

**Started BIRM Nov. 15th 2018

Started having more energy and strength right away.

First PSA Dec 7th 1.13. (3 weeks after BIRM and up from 0.88)

Second PSA Jan 18th. 1.52 (8 weeks after BIRM)

New Axumin Pet Scan is scheduled for Feb 7th.

***So Still feeling much better on BIRM, but my PSA has been on an upward trajectory....from 0.88 to 1.52 (almost double) in just 8 weeks.

Just thought I should update in case anyone is curious about PSA and BIRM in my case....on Lupron and Xtandi and just started Xgeva this past Friday.

John

p.s. was hoping for crazy good results on PSA...but sort of got the opposite.

Thanks for the update John. I just finished chemo and have been considering trying the 7x version of BIRM but have been reluctant to do so until I get my next PSA. My MO is not hot on the idea, but he's not the one with cancer! .

How many months have u been on Xtandi? 2 consecutive rises can happen sometimes, wait another month for another PSA test, it might drop again.

It happened for my father but he is on Zytiga, he never made it to PSA 0, lowest was 1.98, currently around 2 and luckily it stays always there for the latest 8 months. Sometimes it bounces up even for 2 consecutive months but goes always down the third month and holds there at 2.

Best wishes, John, let us know how it goes.

Thanks!...oh, and I've been on Xtandi since last July. So like 6 months. My axumin pet scan after just 4 months on Xtandi was greatly improved.

Will see with next scan.

I believe Nalakrats uses Birm...message him....Do a Birm search on the posts...I have not seen any claims that PSA went down using Birm...did see the article below:

ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articl...

I ordered some...not sure now whether to take or not....

Thanks for sharing your experience. Have been considering adding BIRM.

Hope you next scan gives you good news! My husband has been lucky in that he has been able to get radiation to kill his bone Mets several times. Knocking it back with radiation gets him 6 months to a year. He is on Lupron and Xdandi currently.

Best Wishes

I did great the first three months on Lupron and Xtandi...and then my PSA started going up slowly...Was hoping BIRM would help hold it down...not showing that so far, but like I said, I feel better and have more energy and strength. All the best to you.

Hello John, thanks for updating. I'm glad you are still feeling good while on BIRM. Let's hope for a good result on Feb, 7th.

GJ,

I think BIRM interfers with Xtandi and makes the cancer worse...that is the problem with supplements..not knowing how they react with the drugs

Dalph87 profile image
Dalph87 in reply togusgold

It might interfere in actual, I remember my father asking to our MO about supplements and he said better not take any while he is on these drugs.

GJ,

See Gusgold post on taking indomethacin with Xtandi.....his PSA went down in 30 days....something to think about....

Hi John - thanks for the update. Are you taking the industrial strength or the regular? My husband takes the industrial strength.

greatjohn profile image
greatjohn in reply toHOPEFULSPOUSE

I'm feeling great on the "regular"...thought I'd use it as long as I could.

I do a little larger portion perhaps, but not much. 3 appx. spoon fulls per day after meals.

Also - my husband just had a rise in PSA but his oncologist thinks it's due to a urinary tract infection he has

I'm surprised xtandi hasnt worked more effectively. I was under the impression it added a couple years to PSA suppression. How long have you been on lupron?

greatjohn profile image
greatjohn in reply toGeorgeGlass

Appx 2 years. I'm hoping these 2 rises are a fluke and it starts back down soon.

So far nothing has worked for long.

Ok. Good luck John. Keep exercising everyday and try to use a sauna daily as well.

Xtandi and Zytiga can be effective from 6 months to 6 years according to our MO, with the average being 1-2 years, some patients can do well for longer though if the drugs are given at diagnosis.

All varies by individual and I think Gleason Score has nothing to do with the drugs efficacy, every patient is unique. My father has a G7 and Zytiga still works for him after 8 months.

Greatjohn,

My experience with iP6 may serve as a useful lesson. Dr. AKM Shamsuddin points out several times in his book that IP6 was "dose-dependent" and "time-dependent" in the experiments under review. I personally found that was the case. I could not "move the needle" with a particular dose of IP6, but when that dose was double i got results. My urologist couldn't understand why my PSA was declining. He also could not understand why the nodules on my prostate had disappeared. I had not shared with him that I was taking IP6. When I moved to Florida my urologist would not accept the notes in the medical history. He had to do a DRE also he insisted. Finally, he admitted there were no nodules detectable.

Herman_PSA reports the same event with his physician on healthunlocked when he increased his IP6 dose. Your prostate his physician told him "was smooth as a table top". He also had normalized his prostate cancer cells.

The BIRM dose may need to be increased. (I know nothing about BIRM so there may be an issue of toxicity for you to determine). I note that you take it after meals. Could there be possibly a bioavailability issue? Have you tried it on an empty stomach? What are you mixing it with?

Lots of things to consider.

Cal, What is ip6?

Even though this is not a new article, it is a good summary of IP6 and its impact on prostate cancer:

naturalnews.com/025975_ip6_...

Here are some good, brief videos from nutritionfacts.org. Please note that IP6 is also called "phytate", "inositol hexaphosphate", or "phytic acid".

nutritionfacts.org/video/ph...

Dr. Greger refers to "rehabilitating" cancer cells. You will note I used the word above "normalize" following Dr. Shamsuddin's practice.

nutritionfacts.org/video/ph...

Here is the book by Dr. Shamsuddin that is an excellent introduction to IP6.

are you talking about the Axumin Pet Scan? if so...it's one of the newest and BEST pet scan tests for seeing prostate cancer that has metastasized into other part of the body. My regular pets scans all came back negative UNTIL I had this one...then I had multiple mets in pelvic lymph nodes and in pelvic bones. It's done like a regular pet scan except the "axumin" is injected RIGHT before you're moved into the machine. Just should drink lots of water after any of these tests...and there are some fasting and NO drinking and NO gum requirements for a few hours before.
