Hi all! I had a Davinci RP. Five years ago. My PSA has been doubling in last 6 months. My doctor recommended a radiation oncologist.
I would love to get input from others that have done 8 weeks of radiation. Please give me suggestions and tips on what questions to ask the RO and what to expect, how you handled anything externally or internally that worked for you, or any product you used during the treatments. Also, were you able to continue working while going through the 8 weeks. Any info, tips, suggestions would be appreciated. My wife has stage 4 aggressive thyroid cancer and I need to work. Thanks for your help.

Todays RT performed by an up to date RO using modern equipment produces little if any difficult side effects...The latest trend in radiation treatment is to use far fewer treatments with more precise beam aiming..(SBRT) Have you had any scans to try and locate the exact spot where the cancer is? There are new scans available that are very precise..Saves a lot of guesswork...
Thank you! Which scans would you recommend? I’ve had a Pet scan and bone scan. Their is not a definite location showing. What is the difference between SBRT and IMRT? What questions should I ask the radiologist tomorrow to help myself?
Hello Sir, I did the 8 wks ending 8-15 . I was Non op . Still have a prostate. RT and adt have kept me clear so far.. I had no serious problems but as the weeks rolled by I got hit by chronic fatigue. But I had complications that you don’t. . Kidney failure and a foley and tubes out of both kidnies. That was hell. The RT no pain. Never had a hemroid before or since but towards the end I grew one so big that I couldn’t sit. My naturalpath gave me a nat suppository that took that hemmy away in three days never to be seen again. The long term side effects are fatigue . I couldn’t work ...You might be able to. I’m sorry about your wife .. I pray for her to heal also.. God bless you both in this hailstorm. .. Scott..
Hi . I was able to get the 1st appointment of the day and this allowed me to get to work early . I was lucky that someone with that time slot had just finished as I was starting .
I did often have to stop on the way to work to urinate as they want you to have a full bladder prior to each session .
I guess it all depends on where you will be treated and where you work . I was fortunate to be reasonably close to the hospital , and then about 15 miles from work ,
I hope you are doing well ! It wasn’t so bad for me .
i wa dx in 2007 with a gleason score 9, 7 out of biopsy of 12. had a lupron/eliguard shot after awhile it went to 8.0 psa had the radiation didn't want a catgh put in,pain, hospital. no big deal with the radiation it took more time to get set on the table and about 10 minutes of radiation for the 35 days. lost some wt and that was all. had other drugs, including zytiga with some hot flashes but none more, lost some wt. then recently PROVENGE treatment found some zytiga. i'm on my 11 year, found 6 month lupron/eliguard shot. psa is 38,testosterone is around 30. oh they have found some other mets getting a 2nd opinion for that new mets in my back. don't agree with the oncologist suggestion. feel great since i've been dealing with this disease for some time. go for the radiation no surgery
