It’s time to recover and get on with living! On November 18, last Saturday I Had robotic RP. Just about a half hour ago the Dr. called with the pathology. He said “it really could not have been much better”. Gleason downgraded from 9 to 8, insteaded of 90 of the prostate involved as needle biopsy indicated, pathology shows 25%, with nothing near the margined, and out of 22 lymph nodes, none had cancer!!! While I haven’t talked with everyone on the team, the surgical oncologist seems to think watching my PSA closely, is all I need to do right now at least. I just wanted to share, so others, especially just starting on the journey, know that if it can happen for one person, it can happen for them. Do the right next thing, take care of yourself mentally and physically, and Believe. Thanks for the vital input, and to those who treated me kind here.
I’ll lurk around from time to time...... - Advanced Prostate...
I’ll lurk around from time to time...BUT, I feel like I’ve got a wake up call, and a reprieve ...
Excellent results! Good luck to you!
Your results sound similar to mine. My RP was last June. My pathology afterwards reported all margins negative. Along with prostate, I had 24 lymph nodes removed. My Gleason score from biopsy was 9. Pathology from surgery however could not provide a Gleason score. This is because I am part of a clinical trial, where I took an extensive mix of clinical trial medicines for 3 months, prior to my RP.
Pathology from surgery however did report a PCa reduction (by volume) from 0.7 to 0.07. The report presumed this was due to the clinical trial medicines. Pathology also (unfortunately) reported extra-capsular PCa. However it was nice that it reported all removed lymph nodes had negative margins. The hope now is that all was extracted
From this point on, my doctors want PSA checked every 3 months. Next week will be 6 months post RP. I get my PSA measured and hope it's below test threshold of (<0.03).
Any downgrade is good! Just like your Doc says, keep an eye on your PSA
...and don’t overdo any exercise routine you may have 48-hours before your next PSA Blood Draw..especially bike riding. I would recommend an Ploidy Analysis to conform the Pathological Results; you may want to know the characteristics of cell; whether they are Diploid, Anuploid, or Tetriploid.
Great, now you can hangout at your Ranch in the Valley.
Good Luck, Good Health and Good Humor.
