I love eggs

I heard that egg yolks are one of the worst things you can eat if you have stage 4 prostate cancer. I love eggs so that’s a big bummer for me. If anyone has a study that says otherwise I’ll be your best friend.

Choline is found in just about every food you eat and is present in every cell in the body including the brain and central nervous system..the fact is you can not live without choline..IMO the study is BS

So they give you Choline for a PET scan in the knowledge it will feed your cancer? I think not.....

In PET-CT they simply inject you with a glucose pump labeled with fluorine. I do not know if PET-Choline is the same or not, and we already know that the cancer cells feed on glucose, that's why it is injected...

I think I might just as well lay back, eat what I want and bloody well die! :)

If you look up foods that contain choline you’ll find that the list is very long and includes fish and veggies. So there’s no avoiding it. Regardless, I too avoid egg yolks but eat egg whites daily. I eat lots of poultry but avoid the skin (my favorite part). So far so good.

My onco Dr. Sartor advises to just eat lean protein and lots of fruits and veggies.

Wait for the definitive clinical trial!

Incidentally, "United States egg production totaled 8.20 billion during March 2014".

That's about 25 eggs monthly per man, woman & child. But the bulk of production goes to baked goods. The eggs one sees in the supermarket represents a fraction of production, & some of those eggs will be used in baking too.

The point is that while the population eats a lot of eggs, it's difficult for a researcher to get an accurate number via a questionaire. I know how many breakfast eggs I ate last week, but if I did eat baked goods (I don't), I would have a problem coming up with an egg count.

Another problem is the association of breakfast eggs with bacon & sausage. Did the risk analysis adjust for that?

Anyway, choline is essential - serious health consequences for those who try to live without it. We are told that eggs contain a lot of choline. That's true if you compare foods by the amount found in 100 grams. One large egg a day & one might still have a problem meeting one's choline requirements.

Go the direction of pastured rasied eggs...from a local farmer, if you can. If not, go for pastured raised in the grocery store.

One can enjoy the yolk and the white.

Moderation is key.

I eat egg whites only because of high cholesterol. I eat a special diet because of other diseases. I show no more cancer in my body at this time, but the radiation and 6 1/2 years of Lupron (Eligard - generic) did more to stop my PCa than the eggs I ate. I like Swiss cheese and mushroom white omelets the best for breakfast with a slice of toast (no butter). Just keep on truckin'.

I had no such restrictions. Since diagnosed with metastatic PCa in 2004, I have eaten at least two dozen a month. That is well over 309 dozen. However, check with your Medical Oncologist for better information.

Nothing like a fried egg sandwich with bacon on a buttered wheat toast.....

I know my husband was diagnosed 13 years ago and we eat eggs and chicken all the time and he's still here 13 years later and is age 77.

I understand that of course. I was making the point that if choline feeds cancer, why would anyone in their right mind inject you with it. If, on the other hand, it doesn’t feed cancer, then that’s medically and ethically OK.

If you look hard enough you will find that you can't eat or drink anything. Most things in moderation are fine. Most things not in moderation are not. Until an actual peer reviewed study proves these theories don't get too upset. Eat an egg - whole or white. There are those that say yolks are bad. There are those that say the choline in eggs fights cholesterol. There are people that say sugar feeds cancer. There are people who say to go completely vegan, or vegetarian, or don't drink alcohol, or don't eat spinach. One thing I know is if they were sure of any of these things you would know. If they really knew what causes PC we would be cured. Go have an egg sandwich - add a side of broccoli if you feel guilty.

I take enough medication, injections, vitamin suppliments that will affect my way of life for the rest of my time on Earth so if I want to enjoy eggs which I do I'm going too. We are all on borrowed time anyway with or without PC so eat an egg yolk and all. Never give up never surrender.

Make sure you don't eat the egg shells...

A man walks into a bar with a fried egg on his head.

The bartender asks, "Why have you got a fried egg on your head?"

The man replies, "Because boiled eggs fall off."
