Is it normal to feel anxiety and have shortness of breath on the steroids? I’m only day 2 but I can really feel this stuff running through my body. Super strong stuff. I am assuming that I will get used to it? My MO said I could cut down to 5mg instead of 10, but I’m concerned about messing up the counter balance with the Zytiga????

Steroids with Zytiga
My dr let me go down to 5mg of steroids from 10. He did not feel like it would impact the success of Zytega. Anyone else have any thoughts on that ?

Some of us here incuding me are taking 5mg. No problems so far and the Zytiga has been very effective: my pain is way down and PSA is 0.1 so far.
You could decrease the dose to 5 mg as per MO indication and see if the symptons improve. I believe one of the Zytiga clinical trials was performed using 5 mg of prednisone.
If you develop edema, hypertension or hypokalemia, you could go back to 10 mg. Other possibility ,if you develop those complications, is to remain in 5 mg of prednisone and start treatment with eplenerone (Inspra) a selective aldosterone receptor blocker and see what happens.
I too have anxiety, and get short of breath climbing just a few stairs. My onc put me on Lorazepam for the anxiety (I manage on 0.5 mg/day). For the shortness of breath, I just have to take my time. . . .
The steroid is to replace that lost by the effect of Zytiga on your adrenal gland. My main side effects has been to my skin and hair, I’ve been on 10mg for approaching 7 years. My optician now has concerns about the effects on my eyesight, I’m seeing a specialist in a couple of weeks.
I cut the prednisone to 5 mg's about 5 months ago. There was a bit of resistance from the Onc, but i did it. No noticable effects. Yet.
I have been on Zytiga since June. Started out with 10 mg of Prednisone. Switched after a month to 5mg. Numbers continue to look good. Not anxious but very dizzy for about four hours after I take meds
