High sugar level new after chemo

I know I’ve read a lot about sugar levels rising after chemo. My husbands sugar level has gone up and before I modify his diet I would like to be sure I understand why this is happening. I was telling him no bread or sugar but not sure it will really matter. Looking for some good advice.

If he is having dexamethasone or prednisolone with the chemo this can make his blood glucose rise.

Also weight gain from no testosterone and less exercise can push up blood glucose.

BIRM has interesting data in cell lines and mice but I can't find any clinical trials. Probably not too dangerous but no studies I can find on humans showing benefit. Anyone have any good trial data?

I can't find anything suggesting BIRM would effect glucose metabolism either but as it is not regulated or monitored or controlled it may be delivered in very high sugar containing stuff.

Who would know?
