It's been a week ....

Well, I've been on Zytiga for a whole WEEK!!

Apart from the second day when I had massive hot flushes all day, it hasn't been too bad.

My reaction to the Zoladex during the first week of my initial treatment in 2013 was much worse. The hot flushes were debilitating, and I didn't have anywhere near as much get up and go as I have at the moment.

In fact, the hot flushes have diminished to an occasional mild annoyance. Not sure whether that was the result of Camomile tea or the magnesium, or a combination of both!

Something new has been the development of an annoying ache in the vicinity of T5 and the 5th rib ........ Not sure what it is, but at the moment it feels more like a torn intercostal muscle, rather than a "bone ache", and it's much worse after heavy lifting.

Seeing the Doc on the 7th, and a Skype link with the Oncologist on the 18th May, so I'll be talking to them about it, but I'm not too concerned.

All long journeys start with a single step, and this has been mine. Sorta half looking forward to the challenges ahead ... we'll see who's tougher I guess... but I'm in it for the long haul!!

Hope you guys are all doing good things and kickin' arse!!

Cheers

Yep, that's what I reckon too!

My Url wants me to do accupuncture for hot flashes. Has anyone tried this? While they are annoying I can live with them if my treatment is working!

I am doing acupuncture for relief of my hot flashes and found it relieves my hot flashes substantially. My hot flashes are reduced in number and intensity. I get two treatments a week and would recommend them to anyone bothered by hot flashes.

Do you mean magnesium supplement? If so how many mg.? The tea I know I can get. These flashes are annoying! Thanks for your help brother👍

Hi Kell

I am taking Nutra-Life Magnesium Forte 400mg. That's an Kiwi brand but available here in Aus, don't know if you can get it in the States. It's supposedly good for muscles too..... and cramps... although I don't get cramp very often at all.

I’ve been on Zytiga (and Firmagon) for about 2 months now. Was previously on Lupron and Casodex, but that stopped working. During those 2 months, PSA came down from 4.4 to 0.3 and T is less than 2. My next check up is in mid-May. So significant SE so far. Firmagon injection (belly) took about 3-4 days to heal.

Been on Zytiga for 7 months as initial treatment with lupron. My hot flashes were bad for a few weeks but not to bad now. I feel like the lupron that gives me the hot flashes. Hoping you have great results.

Thanks JK

I'm on Zytiga with Triptorelin & prednisolone, and everything seems to have settled down a bit. Not sure whether its the camomile tea or magnesium but I'll take it either way!
