Abiraterone effectiveness time

Hello everyone! My name is Juan Carlos and I'm from Barcelona, ​​Spain. I have been diagnosed, August 2017, of prostate cancer with bone metastasis. I am 51 years old.

My first treatment is for ADT and Abiraterone.

I would like to know about experiences with Abiraterona. And times of effectiveness.

Hello Juan from Barcelona,

You've chosen an excellent first treatment and I believe it will help a great deal in controlling your cancer. I've been on it for a year with very little side effects and it's brought my psa down to less than 0.2. Hopefully you'll achieve similar results. Remember to keep up your potassium levels with avocados, nuts, unsweetened coconut water, etc..

Hi Juan. I was dx in September 1 2017. Stag4 with bone mets. My first treatment also is the same as you. So far things are well some side effects but nothing i can't deal with. Gleason score was 8 and psa 35. As of last week psa .003 so definitely working so far. Hope your having same results my friend. JON

Abiraterone (zytiga) should be done along with ADT (lupron or similar) soon after diagnosis of metastatic hormone sensitive cancer. Your are been treated correctly.

Started on Abatirone nine months ago. PSA staying low (0.03), CT with Axumin tracer shows great reduction of cancer in all areas including bone metastases compared to Axumin study one year ago. Literature suggests that Abierone can be effective for two years or more. Newer drugs to replace Abatirone are already being approved. Sorry you are dealing with this awful disease, but there’s every reason to hope that Abiterone and then newer drugs will give you a longer and better life.

PSA at diagnosis was 572, Gleason 7 (4+3) 7 major bone mets. Started on Abiraterone/Prednisolone/Zoladex within 4 weeks of diagnosis.

That was 6 years ago. PSA 4 weeks ago was immeasurable, as it has been from the start of this treatment.

I'm hoping to have confirmation tomorrow what my PSA was 4 weeks after starting treatment 6 years ago. I'm fairly sure it was 0.1, which is a startling result. I do know it was immeasurable at 12 weeks from starting treatment, as I saw my STAMPEDE trial notes this morning.

Ive now got my PSA progression information, and it's most interesting.

First PSA test at doctors 12/11/2011 PSA 443.9

First PSA test at Oncology Clinic 17/11/2011 PSA 571.4

4 weeks after starting STAMPEDE trial (23/1/2012) 23/2/2012 PSA 0.2

12 weeks after starting STAMPEDE trail 20/4/2012 PSA immeasurable

That's where it has stayed.

Those results are quite remarkable I understand.
