I have advanced prostate ca with bone mets. I have been self cathing for a year now for urinary retention but still needing to pee frequently Has anyone had this treatment before, what can I expect. Also, Have been noticing that it is getting harder to pee resulting in needed to strain more along with a greater need to defecate when I do initiate voiding. Seems like my colon as decreased in diameter because stools are definity not has thick.thx
Urinologists recommends Botox injecti... - Advanced Prostate...
Urinologists recommends Botox injections for urinary frequency/urgency.
Talk to your medical doctor about your urethra. If you had surgery or radiation treatment, you may have scarring in the urethra. A surgical procedure could widen the urethra.

Hi,
I am just a year out from radiotherapy for pc and was hoping to get a botox injection now as had been offered them years ago for over active bladder but at the time they were experimental and you had to have a general anaesthetic every 6 months. I found out just at the time I was diagnosed that they now do them with local anaesthetic so was willing to give that a go - I do not react well to General anaesthetic so did not want one every 6 months even though it would help with my urinary frequency. However the urologist told me he wouldn't give me the injection for another year even though my onc said I could have one a year after radiotherapy - shame - they obviously have different ideas there but my PSA is now undetectable so the urinary frequency is going to have to wait! I hope you can get some info on what to do for your problem soon and that whatever procedure you have works for you.
Yes, I go through that sometimes too but have been told that this may be because of radiation proctitis - the gastro says it is but the onc says it isn't! I am trying to get referred to the gastro used by my cancer centre - it is out of area so could take a while but think they are more likely to know the effects better than the little local hospital where they don't deal with cancer. Good Luck.
My husband had radiation years ago, but the cancer has come back. No mets yet. He had trouble peeing, and had to self cath for a few months. The urologist performed surgery to use a laser to ream out the scar tissue. This is when he found out the cancer had returned. He had to have another surgery a while later to do it again. Now he pees drops constantly. He also has trouble controlling his bowels. When he needs to go he has to get there fast. I have not heard about the botox. What does it do? Could it help keep the drips from coming?
