Getting port on Monday. First chemo on Tuesday. Today he shaved off a beautiful, thick head of hair without a pause. This fella of mine is brave and as handsome as he was when we met at 19 years old. I couldn't be prouder of him. Your words of hope and encouragement are precious to us.
Ready to go...: Getting port on Monday... - Advanced Prostate...
Ready to go...
My best to you and stay strong/positive - he needs to kill off the rest of the cancer after his ADT weakened them. I know - I did 15 chemos and 30 months ADT from 2015
Randy
The strong love that you have for him will guide him through treatment.
Sending hope for a positive outcome.
Hi MimiY,
Today marks 2 weeks since my husband has undergone his first chemotherapy. Thank God, so far he's doing ok. He was able to work all this time and even exercise a bit. I know it's too early to tell how he will continue to handle the rest of the chemos but we are ready🙏 He didn't shave his hair completely but cut it very short. He hasn't lost any hair yet. I will be thinking and praying for you guys. You are not alone.
Sincerely,
Erika.
I will wish your husband good luck and be strong! We all have been through chemotherapy so I and we know what is all about. I was on it for 2 and half months back in 2005. People here are here to help you and they are knowledgeable in problems you may have.
Good luck! Keep positive, stay active, and the side effects of chemo can be minimised. Hope it goes well.
We are really trying. We are used to walking 2 or 3 miles almost every day. Hope he can build back up to that.
When I (age 65) went through chemo I RAN 5 miles most everyday in 75-80 degree heat up and down shadeless farm roads. You guys will have no problem with your walks. It's all about how bad he wants it. Walking a couple of miles will be a breeze, you both will find it's great mentally. Laced them up and get out the door.
Good wishes, hopes and prayers for you and your love Mimi. Hopeful it will grow back stronger and better and he will too. Take good care of you too. That's so important. I'm glad he has you. Most sincere.
Wishing you and your sweetie all the best. Read up on reducing side effects, and I bet you'll be pleasantly surprised at how quickly and well you get tjrough this. You've got this!
I'll do that.
This piece linked below, is by far the most informative I've seen. My husband believes that water consumption in the two days before and after each infusion was key in reducing Side effects for him. He wore the cooling caps too, so he didn't lose any hair.
Your help will make it work for him. Some days are rough but my wife gets me through them.
All the best. Kill the beast.
This song is by your HUSBAND (and Maurice Chevalier) and appears on the album On Top Of The World (1993).
My left shoe's on my right foot,
My right shoe's on my left.
Oh! listen to me Mimi,
Of reason I'm bereft!
The buttons of my trousers
Are button'd to my vest;
Oh! listen to me Mimi,
Mere passion's in my breast!
Mimi, you funny little good for nothing Mimi,
Am I the guy?
Mimi, you sunny little honey of a Mimi,
I'm aiming high!
Mimi, you've got me sad and dreamy,
You could free me, if you'd see me.
Mimi, you know I'd like to have
A little son of a Mimi bye and bye.
Good Luck and Good Health.

Hello there newbies!
Had my chemo port installed on January 22 and had first chemo drip - the usual TAXOTERE - with no problems 3 days later. So after 10 days just the usual fatigue. But am relieved I broke through my fears and started chemo. My Onc has me repeating it every 3 weeks, unless it doesn't work to push back on my mets to lymph nodes and bones, or if any side effects become intolerable. But so far so good - stay positive and keep us updated.....regards, Ron in Connecticut
Yep, we are newbies too. Sometimes the fear is the worst part. Every 3 weeks for us too. Wishing you good luck and courage.
