Hey! New here and just have a few questions and curious to see if anyone else has had any of this happen with them or a loved one. Hubbie had full removal of prostate at age 46 and psa has started showing trace amounts now almost 3 years later. He is also experiencing joint and bone pain. Pretty severe at times. I guess question would be has anyone on here after full removal had any of these problems? He has also commented almost weekly since surgery that he feels like insides are falling apart or out. His abdomen is sore lots and has had bowel issues ever since surgery as well. They even did biopsy and colon screening and it was all ok.
Appreciate any info that anyone would be willing to share

Welcome, sorry that your husband is having these issues. Did he have any other treatment besides surgery (hormonal, radiation, chemo)?
I had my prostate removed almost two years ago and I have many of the same symptoms. However most of mine are the result of the radiation and hormonal treatments, not surgery. (Radiation causes bowl issues, hormonal causes joint pain (and a lot of other issues), both radiation and the surgery makes my insides feel like someone took a blender to them.) However, most of the symptoms you are describing are not associated with the surgery. There must be another causes,
It is possible that scar tissue could be causing some of his discomfort. Definitely see the surgeon about that. The other systems may indicate the cancer may be trying to come back. How high is his PSA?
I would strongly recommend that he see a medical oncologist in addition to his urologist/surgeon. He may also want to see a gastroenterologist. Since his PSA is going up and he has bone/joint pain he should have a CT/bone scan. This is just to rule out if the cancer has spread. Better yet would be an auxium scan. It is a lot more sensitive. If he gets these scans hopefully they come back negative. Just being able to rule out the return of the cancer is reason enough to get the scans.
Please know that you two are not alone. We are all hoping that you can find the cause of his discomfort and more important, find a solution. Based on what you shared with us it is hard to put the blame on the surgery. We are with you, The two of you are not alone. Always remember “people like us we have to stick together “.
In addition to Walt’s comments (which are great), make sure you watch the video Patrick just posted about PSMA Pet Scan. This scan can let you know if there is any prostate cancer evidence anywhere in your husband’s body.
I know this is going to sound awful.... I can't even remember what his original PSA was. I am so glad to have found this site. I guess we just assumed that when they said cancer was contained after surgery and they removed it that is was a done deal. Seeing now that is not the case. Calling tomorrow morning to make appt. couldn't today due to holiday. He has been going every 3 months for blood work and his last showed ... maybe .5 psa reading. Just so worried about his joint and bone pain. Shoulders down to elbows and legs and feet and back and hips. He has never had a scan like what y'all are referring to but will be sure to ask about all of this. Y'all are great and I really appreciate all of the good information I am getting. His dad died of pancreatic cancer at age 52 and my hubbie will be 50 this year. Worries me to death! Trying to be strong but have a bad feeling.
