Just received results from bone scan. 2 ribs glowing brightly and bone biopsy ordered, have been on ADT2 for 13 months PSA .45 & still decreasing, so no CRPC suspected yet, very confusing.

Rib Mets suspected
Ever crack your ribs and not know it? Long time ago I broke my back in three places and now when I get a bone scan they freak out until I explain to them what happened to me when I was doing something I shouldn't have been doing. They injected some sort of epoxy in my three cracked vertebrate and bingo, in four weeks I was back to what I consider normal.
Of course what do I know?
I was going to call a rib fracture also. They show up brightly.
My husband who suffers from PC, (2004) G9 just recently cracked 8 ribs during CPR. We were bird hunting and my guide was very strong! Curious about your treatment for the cracked ribs. He's in incredible pain as he recovers from cardiac arrest. What did doctors inject?

Left a comment below, did you break your ribs ever?
Bill,
Do you have a baseline bone scan? i.e. do you know whether these are new issues?
If a biopsy is positive, maybe you are a candidate for oligometastatic therapy? It's a newish area. The idea is that mets can be treated if there are only a few of them.

I had an initial scan before 3D Scan & diagnosis. It showed a slight irregularity on those ribs, not the bright white like on this scan. I had mild injuries from football 60 years ago, I can’t remember breaking any ribs. Radiologist scheduled for the biopsy doesn’t think its Mets. He is going to do another definitive scan before he does Biopsy to satisfy himself that they are not old damage. 🤞
About 2 years ago I had 3 spots on my spine and had them treated with Cyberknife. I now have 2 small spots on a rib and in the pelvic area. They will be treated with Cyberknife next week.
Hi, continued good results from Cyberknife? I'm especially wondering if you did Cyberknife instead of or in addition to ADT/hormonal treatment.. Although I don't know yet for certain, I'm guessing I fall into the same or a similar category as you, PSA rising again after an initial bout of ADT. Of course, I'd prefer not to have to do ADT again.
I had Cyber Knife initially to treat spots on my spine. I have been on lupron for more than 2 years. I started Provenge infusions in Nov. 2017. After first infusion, I had Cyber Knife for spots on rib and in pelvic area. There is info that killing cancer during the Provenge treatments improves the results. We will see.
I had a spot on a rib from a bone scan and my med onc sent me for a C11 PET scan and it did not show up as a PC met, don’t know what it was, but my rad oncologist looked at an old CT scan pre diagnosis and compared it to the new one they did at the time of the PET scan, and it was the same no met, so there are ways to read scans other than bone scans to set the record straight. Glad the Med oncologist sent me, I believed I had metastatic PC for nearly two years, what a ride for that one! I hated being on Lipton! I may still have mets, but the radiation onc was optimistic for the treatment of the recurrence in my prostate which led to a PSA rise triggering the C11 scan. Still don’t know why the rib glowed for bone scan.
The only thing that should be glowing this time of year is Rudolfs nose. Good luck on the scan .
