Today is my last visit with Dr Myers. If you're his patient, where have you been referred?

Dr. Ferrari at Rutgers in NJ. My husband's first visit is in two weeks. We are a bit nervous.

I was referred to Dr. Oliver Sartor, Medical Director of the Tulane Cancer Center in New Orleans (we live in Atlanta). Great doc and always available.

Best wishes. Never Give In.

I was seeing Tanya Dorff at the Norris Cancer Center at USC in LA. Since moving to New England she referred me to Dr Mary Ellen Taplin at the Dana Farber Cancer Center in Boston, so far very good.

1. I went to Dr. Oliver Sartor

2. My recollection was when I checked Dr. Ferrari and Dr. Drake they weren't taking patients. Maybe that has changed. Can someone confirm that?

3. Finding an oncologist replacement for Dr. Myers has not been so hard. Finding a replacement for him as a primary care physician who will prescribe metformin, pharma grade fish oil and other such prescriptions has been almost impossible.

4. I have found a primary care physician in Chicago (Dr. Sobel, sobelmed.com). Like Myers, he has a concierge practice.

He is an internist and an endocrinologist. He seems to understand Dr. Myers protocols from a non-oncologist perspective. He even has opinions on Vascepa vs. Lovaza. He communicates with emails and is available by phone. Like Myers he actually reads peer reviewed studies related to the needs of specific patients and uses them to inform his treatment decisions.

Most importantly he works with a cohort of transplant patients, so he has a good understanding of immune system issues. Like a fair number of Dr. Myer's patients I have a compromised immune system so that is an important plus.

Myer's was working on increasing my t-Cell counts and it appears that Dr. Sobel will be able to understand and continue with that program.

I personally would like to see a cohort of ex-Myers patients to join me at Sobel's practice. If there are a number of us together, it might improve our care as a group.

Like Myers his practice isn't the easiest for a new patient to join. If anyone wants an introduction to him, send me an email at Curt.Sahakian@CorporatePartnering.com.
