Hi all! I am wondering if there is anyone else who has or is having immunotherapy? I'm just seeing whether I qualify and if I do I'll start in a few weeks. Pete~

Yes I had Provenge (sipuleucel-T) in 2012.I went to Hartford CT. New York Blood Clinic. You have to be hooked up to a machine that takes cells out of your body. It takes about 2-3 hours for this. This is done 3 times. I went on a Monday and then went to have cells put back into body through infusion therapy 2 or 3 days later. The reason why you have to wait is it goes to a lab to be processed. They put something in it.It can make your calcium level go down. The Doctor will check your calcium level each time. Good luck and always think positive! If you have any other question feel free to ask me.

Provenge in December. They say it helps. We'll see.

Not with PD1 or CTLA4 or anything else.

what is PD1 and CTLA4?

Provenge is like a wanted dead or alive poster. Aside from the face of the wanted guy, the poster has other stuff like "deliver by august 1 1863". These are checkpoints. Checkpoint inhibitors cover these up.

Why the people, who add the face to the poster, dont take the "checkpoints" off the poster themselves is a good question.

Are you entering a trial? Do you know what agent you might be taking?

I have had Provenge in 2014. I had to travel 25 miles to Harrisburg, PA. There at a Red Cross facility my blood was extracted and white cells separated. The white blood cells were sent to Atlanta, GA and sent to my local doctor and infused back into me. It worked great.

Wow, how are you doing now? My wife is excited. My blood has been shipped off for mapping. waiting for the results. If all goes well I am one of only 10 people in my city getting in this trial. Fingers crossed.

Doing great, I had some spots in my lungs. After Provenge the spots disappeared and so far have not returned. I don't understand about the trial, Provenge is FDA approved. The only road block I had was having the Patient Access Network help pay the treatments.. A Provenge round of three treatments is $93,000, Ouch.

I had my blood mapped and failed to qualify. Looking for what's next?

in reply to Magnus1964

It's FDA approved.
