I am a male aged 74. About two months ago I started to get up during the night to use the bathroom and pass water. I don't drink after 7-30 pm. is there any cause for concern.

Mine started after HDR brachetherapy that damaged the atea. Did the 3-4 times per night trips to urinate until 6 months ago when I got condom catheter to collection bag hookup and now sleep through the night.

When in doubt, get checked out. A simple blood test that costs about $80 can tell if your PSA is abnormal or if over two or three checks will tell you if it is rising. This disease does not present any bad symptoms until it is too late a lot of times.

Ron,

I can not say that there is not anything wrong, but it seems pretty common as we age to find that we need to get up in the night to urinate. If you are concerned a quick trip to the urologist would be in order to check a few items like are you able to adequately empty your bladder when you do go to the bathroom.

I wonder if you are dealing with BPH (enlarged prostate). If so google rezum -- it is an alternative to more invasive TURP surgery. I had TURP surgery 10 years ago and it made a very positive difference in my life. Good luck, and do see a urologist about your concerns.
