Brown Urine

Has anyone else experienced brown urine that came on suddenly?

I have when I've been very dehydrated.

Dehydration will do it to you, and so will blood. Blood that is old, having pooled somewhere in the body and aged, losing its oxygen. Then it somehow seeps into the urine flow. So hydrate as fast as you can, 8-12oz every fifteen minutes until the urine is straw coloured. If that isn't doing the trick I'd recommend seeing a urologist (or urgent care) as fast as you can. They can look under the microscope and tell the source, and then know what needs fixing.

DH did. Turned out he had a kidney stone.

Great. Sometimes that can change urine color, but certainly not the only possibility.

At its worst it can indicate kidney failure, but just really hydrate yourself, and monitor for any systemic symptoms like fatigue, flank pain, pain upon urination. If it persists contact your medical team

Sometimes, a change in color, especially if it comes on suddenly and doesn't stay around, could possibly be from what you ate/drank the day before.

Brown/dark red... Couldn't find anything in blood, months later was kidney stone!

had some blood in my urine during radiation a few times almost at the end. Gone soon after completing.
