Agent Orange

I hope this is not a double post because I can't find the last one that I wrote. Does anyone in our group know if colorectal cancer is labeled as caused by Agent Orange?

Thanks so much,

Jackie

I had colorectal cancer and it was not part of Agent Orange coverage. I whipped it and must wear a pouch. This happened in 2004. Hang in there.

I am inquiring for my son In Law's father. Thank you so much for the reply I'm so sorry you were not approved. That's just a shame.

I am covered for PCA and diabetes. Colon cancer is not considered as caused by AO. USArmy retired with 2 VN tours.

Jackie, you should go to the VA website and ask this. It's my understanding that the VA recently (like last year?) added a few conditions to the Agent Orange list.

Hi:

Check the presumptive illnesses here at the link below. I don't see colorectal cancer here though. However it still may be covered. I would advise you to speak with a service officer (say through Vietnam Veterans of America) who should be up to date with the very latest info since they deal with claims every day.Perhaps also check with a service officer with the VFW and American Legion too just in case one is more aware than the other.

Hope that this helps.

BTW lots of other "helping" web sites out there. Just Google and spend some time researching and you will discover a lot about how the "system" works.

I don't know about the official position from the Armed Forces regarding prostate cancer as a result of exposure to Agent Orange, but I do have contact with a couple of guys who were in the armed forced, exposed to Agent Orange, and who have prostate cancer. It could be coincidence, because of age, or it could be exposure to that chemical----if so, there should also be an epidemic of prostate cancer in VietNam. It would be interesting to see the statistics of Vietnamese prostate cancer.

Yes that would be interesting Eric!!!

Hi Jackie,

I don't think Agent Orange is particularly choosy. Many men, many cancers. I have a young friend who is active in the VA, I'll see what he has to say. He was inspirational to me.

Also, look into a recent USGS survey of water quality at different bases in the states. It is not a good read. Too many places that had bad water, and used it anyway.

I am about to submit my application for VA benefits, only because I was stationed at two places with bad water. My brother was also stationed at a base with bad water. Look into it.

My Son in laws father applied once about 3 years before he died and was denied but Elgie was denied at first and told he didn't qualify and he did. I was thinking colon cancer and rectal cancer should have qualified. I guess I am wrong but will do further checking. Anyone who was dumped on should qualify in my opinion. I wish you the best with qualifying. Don't give up please. Thanks so much.

Jackie, I believe this is new. I think the VA is wising up to all the vets that are suffering. I will look into it further and let you know what I find out. Elgie should not have been pissed on, and then forgotten. Actually, call your congressman. Sue just suggested it. That's the way to go. Put a fire under someones butt. Seriously may work.
