I just started taking naltrexone for help with my binge eating problem. I can’t believe it’s actually working! I was thirsty, went to the convenience store, walked down the candy and chips aisles twice, with zero urge! Normally, I’d buy two or three items and would have eaten them within the 15 minute drive home. It happened the day before as well, but I thought it was a fluke. lol OMG, the freedom from the compulsion is a relief. Now, if the rest of my brain would just behave itself…
Anyone else use naltrexone?

Great question that I don’t have an answer to, unfortunately. I’d definitely talk to her doctor about it. If they aren’t familiar with it, find a doctor that is familiar with eating disorders. I’m extremely driven by compulsion: more, more, more. Food, spending, alcohol, drugs, auctions, etc. This has almost seemed to be a dimmer switch that was able to turn those compulsions way down. It’s actually pretty remarkable to me! I wish your step kid the best. She’s got a challenging road ahead of her, but lucky to have you to care for her.
It’s ok. He is trans male for the past year. I still misgender at times 😉. Unfortunately we haven’t been in the loop with his doctor for years. Dad and I live so far away, and when we used to live near, we got a ton of pushback about the weight through 13 yo. We also only have him 6 weeks a year now, and his mom wouldn’t even have him on ADHD meds until 14, though we took her to mediation at 7 about it. He has gotten better, but eating a half gallon of ice cream in 2 days is not ok. We dont know how to help without making things worse. We tried to push when we had more time with him and things became too stressful. With dad having ADHD, he forgets to check in with mom and I have no rights so I can’t make it happen myself.
I was taking Vyvanse for BED but haven’t been able to take it in several months because of the shortage here in the NE. Have you had side effects from it?
