Has anyone experienced depression from discrimination or stigma and the difficulties and obstacles of being treated because of the supply issues with medicine?
I experience difficulties with treatment and depression because I was not treated earlier in life.

Hello Steph99Depression is hugely common in people with ADHD. If it's an option get treated for both. If you can only treat one, focus on the ADHD as getting those symptoms under control can often reduce depression symptoms, not totally take care of it but definitely helps.

Hi BLC89. I’ve made a lot of lifestyle adjustments to improve depression. I think treating the ADHD first and then depression is a good start. I don’t respond well to SSRI and antidepressants seem to exacerbate depression. I noticed that it worsened the hardest symptoms of ADHD and I didn’t have access to the best parts. That is without treating the ADHD first. I am treating the ADHD and using diet and exercise and alternative therapies for now. I am less skeptical of considering an antidepressant once ADHD is under control but not yet tried this. Thanks for your input and support.
SSRIs often don't work with ADHD, Welbutrin is a bit different, NDRI, and it gets along well ADHD meds if you go that route.Diet and exercise can be powerful, constancy is key. Meditation is another non med alternative that has shown a huge impact on ADHD symptoms too. It doesn't have to be a long duration even short meditations have an impact.
And learning all you can about what your ADHD looks like is the most powerful medicine of all because it creates space to understand and be kind to yourself.
hi! It’s quite common for people with adhd to develop depression and anxiety due to non treatment. There is also a lot of stigma. We haven’t had any shortage issues lately, but getting our doctor to send the prescription has my partner off his for more than a week on a regular basis.
