Adderall Shortage

For months now I have been having problems getting my prescription filled and am now using some Extended Release that I had discontinued taking to instead take the regular dose hoping to get sleep (with no luck) because that's all I have on hand. At this point I am thinking about quitting.

I wonder, is everyone just walking around in withdrawal because of this shortage? What are we supposed to do?! And is it normal that my Dr.s office is asking me to call around to pharmacies to see if anyone can fill it? Is it not their job?

Most patients have switched to other stimulants like Dextroamphetamine. Unfortunately, Dextroamphetamine and other stimulants are now becoming hard to find.

The DEA controls how much active ingredients manufacturers are allotted each year. They reduced that amount more for 2023. Unfortunately, patients that take these drugs need to start putting some back for the end of the year. Whenever they are able to get their medications again.

It is not just Schedule II drugs. There are other drug shortages. One of these drugs treats cancer patients

I don't know about withdrawl symptoms. My son was on the highest dose of adderal XR at 60mg for about 3 years. So much anxiety his doctor then put him on gaufacine and hydroxyzine and then he had a manic episode last July. The hospital took him off all 3 meds cold turkey. He hasn't been on anything since. I'm wondering how he's functioning at work. I would think it would be your job to find a pharmacy to see if they had any. Doctors just ask what is your pharmacy when you see them. They don't check to see who has the lowest price or take your insurance.
