It may or may not improve the longer she takes it. It would be best to contact her doctor. How old is she ?
Hi, I'm a 48 year old. I too take the same dose of Xaghitin and felt the chenge in mood in the evening. They prescribed 5 mgs short release extra to take in the evening as i was soantsngry with my kids. It helped a littlebit. Best of luck!
I'm not sure what exactly you mean by "violent.". Is she literally being violent? Bouts of uncontrolled anger? Or, is your meaning more metaphorical - as in unregulated mood or mood swings?
Whatever the case, any effects on mood could subside over time, but others can tell you about the timeline on that for children far better than me.
Nevertheless, you should monitor mood changes carefully to be able to describe them accurately to her prescribing doctor. Does the mood rise while the medication is active, and fall as it is wears iff? What do the highs and lows look like exactly? How would your child describe them! Anger, anxiety, mania, lethargy?
Portraits you're thinking of all this already. I just know the stress can leave some parents confused. But in all things psychiatric, the better we explain what the effects of a drug ade, the faster we get to am appropriate drug or dosing. I've been through that personally. I've seen others suffer through it.
All that said, if the medication is helping ADHD symptoms and the moods are not dangerous, it COULD be worth sticking it out for a while to let her body and mind adjust.
