Is it normal for me to be crying over something I didn't get into because of my hyper fixation?

Since the start of this pandemic, I've been hyper-fixated on this video game. Nonstop. The only thing I could watch/think/talk about however I kept getting recommended this other show, But I ignored it because of the game. Well a few weeks ago I finally got around to watching it fully and now I've been feeling extremely guilty for not watching it before since the season is almost over. Is it normal to feel this upset because of it? Can a hyper fixation cause this distress?

Forget about normal.

But it's understandable, especially for people like us. I call it a hyperfocus hangover. Life is short, and when you lose time, it gets you down.

ADHD leaves you with issues, and this is one of them. I'd encourage you to work on this. You want to be able to use hyperfocus to your advantage, without it causing negative emotions.

Missing a show is nothing to feel guilty about at all , and the extreme longterm fixation sounds disruptive and distressful. Do you have a psychiatrist or therapist to talk to? If not, I would tell your primary care doctor and ask them to refer you to one or the other, or both, for help.
