What's going on in my head?

I've been diagnosed with AAD along with narcolepsy, major depression and a vacuolar myopathy. In a recent discussion with a friend I mentioned that I always have something like a private movie running in my mind that never stops. When I am talking, listening, reading or just thinking, I see it 'visually' in my mind at the same time. Just a word and I 'see' it visually in my head. It never shuts down. Does anyone else experience this? My friend thinks I'm a bit strange.

Hey Scoot... and welcome.

I think most of us feel like this. Im gonna go a bit personal... do you also sometimes lie in bed at night and make up fake scenarios, maybe even cry over them?

I used to do that a lot.

And combined with the vivid imagination its like negative therapy and very counter productive.

But you are not weird. We have an overactive mind and if you also have some anxiety to you, then vivid thinking is a "normal".

Do you linger in past experiences?

It’s been said that there are infinite parallel realities all existing at the same time. Is it possible that are minds are jumping in and out of multiple parallel realities or dimensions all the time and that is why it’s hard to stay focused on this one. Maybe ADD stands for added dimensional depth.

Omg.. I have never heard anything so close to the truth before... Added dimensional depth. Cause hearing that makes me wonder if I'm in all of them at once.... Ugh.....

I am the same. All of my thoughts are pictures. If anyone talks to me whatever they say I turn into pictures in my mind. I don’t understand things unless I can understand it visually. I’ve always been like this so I don’t know any different. A picture paints a thousand words so I am able to understand things faster and in more depth. I often point things out to people who say wow I never thought of that. When I watch movies or tv shows I am able to see buildings and houses that they used in other movies and tv shows. I didn’t know I was different until I started asking people what they were thinking about. They actually have only one thought at a time which for me is so strange because my mind thinks of so many things at a time and they are all pictures.

That is so true. I found myself not being able to watch commercials on t.v. I usually find myself picking them apart casting a shadow of that's stupid.... Did he just say that and change it up with a few different words.. Trying to make it better but not... Knowing I could probably do better and for cheaper..

Wow--thank you for the replies. It is so good to hear that others understand and experience these same 'oddities'. Makes me feel not so alien. Love reading all the questions and comments.
