Concerta

I just started Concerta 3 days ago and this drowsy feeling is unbearable. Will this tiredness eventually go away once my body gets used to the medication or should I contact my doctor to get the prescription changed asap. It's only 18mg for the first week and I'm supposed to increase to 60mg in 2 weeks. Do I need to tough it out or switch? Thank you 😊

Hey Khyson, I would try my best to give it 1 week, if you can. If there is zero improvement in your fatigue after 1 week, I would stop taking it and book in to discuss with your prescribing doctor ASAP. There are no risks in suddenly stopping ADHD medication (unlike anxiety/depression meds).

If it is truly unbearable (e.g. you might get fired from your job if you have another day at work like that), then stop it ASAP and book in with doc as above.

Otherwise, I would try to push through the first week... some of the initial side effects can go away once your body is more used to it. Even if you don't see any benefits after 1 week, I would give it the 2 weeks as prescribed and then move onto the next dose.

Hope some of the drowsiness has already resolved itself since it's been 2 days since you posted already! Best of luck.

Thank you BatWoman I called my doctor over the weekend and she said the exact same thing, I need to give it more time. I am way too impatient. Lol. Thank you again
