Psychiatrist's practice office issues

Don't know if the question is appropriate here but I am going to shoot anyway.

My experience with my psychiatrist has not been bad overall, except the treatment not working (:p) but the practice policy/office staff is not at all fun to deal with. I have received incorrect charges so many times and it has taken several attempts to get them removed making it a task in itself. I never receive any apologies even when they know it is their mistake, instead, they make me feel like I am acting stingy.

This time, it was too much and I have made up my mind to leave the practice and find another doctor. I got charged a $150 no show fee that they will not remove, despite my explaining that I had been in an accident. This was the first time in 8 months that I missed an appointment and they wouldn't waive this fee! I have had to wait for the doctor many times during my appointments but they don't compensate the client for the lateness!

Anyone had an experience like this? Can I still get my money back somehow?

Omg I can't believe they done that to you that's terrible. I'm sure there must be something you could do not unless you name and shame them for the way they treated you.

Technically, there R no show charges. Did U need to file anything with your insurance copy, is there a police report ? If so

please order it from the police dept? Did U

receive any medical help right away ? If U

have proof like this, it should be much easier to deal with your doctor’s office manager and the billing dept. also if God forbid, something comes up again try to

get thru to the office to explain what happened to cause U to miss to your appt

I agree with getting a police report of the accident if you have one. I do want to let you know to definitely find a different psychiatrist. I have worked with various psychiatrists over many years. Your experience is common, but you will find psychiatrists & offices that would never treat you this way. The psychiatrists themselves may be late to appointments depending on the patient before you. Getting the mental health support a person needs should not be as difficult or trying as it can be. I do not stay with any physician who makes it difficult or unpleasant to work with them. It is a pain, and the process itself can be trying, to find a good doctor. But in the end will benefit you immensely. I had to switch my psychiatrist just recently, and had a bad experience with the first one I tried. I let them know I would not be staying as a patient. I already had an appointment with a second psychiatrist for later this month. I hope you do get your money back. And I wish you the best in finding a new psychiatrist to work with.
