Can Oligomeric Proanthocyanadins (OPC's) be of any benefit for ADHD??

Short answer: Yes

Oligomeric Proanthocyanadins (OPC's for short) are polyphenols which help give fruit, vegetables, and plants their dark, rich color. These micronutrients contain very strong antioxidants and phytochemicals that assist plants with disease preventive properties. Someone messaged me and asked about my input utilizing OPC'S for ADHD. I had never really looked into OPC's, and was very interested. I looked at OPC's and noticed that Jarrow Formulas had a Grape Seed Extract (GSE) supplement that fit the purpose. After researching I discovered that GSE helps the brain with the regulation of Dopamine, Serotonin, and Norepinephrine (neurotransmitters people with adhd have low levels of), and what suprised me was the help in the regulation of adrenaline (also known as epinephrine). According to research, taking OPC's lowers theta waves in the brain (the types of waves our brain makes when we are in light sleep and day dreaming), and instead increases alpha and beta waves (waves associated with focus, and in those who practice meditation). After taking this once a day for 2 months, I can honestly say that it's a very beneficial supplement . It calms down the mind and makes the body feel relaxed, helps tremendously with memory, and the increase in adrenaline helps give the drive to hurry up and do something, as opposed to needing to wait until the last minute to get the rush of a time constraint. It is also helps the body with Vitamin C, which is helpful for those who take stimulant medication and need that Vitamin C cleanse at the end of the day. Vitamin C diminishes the effects of adhd stimulant medication so I do not recommend taking them at the same time but rather at the end of the day. If any of this is of interest, I uploaded a video on my ADHD Youtube Channel, which goes more in depth, Link in my bio. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the information! Is there a reason you recommend Jarrow? It doesn't come up in an Amazon search, but there are many other companies that have it there.

Glad to be of some help. The reason I recommend Jarrow Formulas is because of the higher quality supplements the company usually offers, along with usually being reasonably priced. I'm from the U.S., some people out of the U.S. have mentioned to me that it's not available from Jarrow Formulas, if this is the case I'd recommend a high quality Grape Seed Extract supplement from a trustable company (I only take 100mg once a day).

What time of day would you recommend taking the grape seed extract? Also I found the Jarrow Grape Seed Extract on Amazon!

Glad to hear, Jarrow Formulas GSE is of pretty solid quality. I take it at night an hour prior to my stimulant medication wearing off. I do not recommend taking it whilst taking stimulant medication since grape seed extract carries quite a bit of Vitamin C which diminishes the effects of stimulant medication.

I usually take my adderall IR 20mg at about 6am and then noon, im actually looking into adding some supplements into my daily routine. I just feel like my adderall isn't working anymore. I really appreciate your posts on the supplements you take, and thank you for responding to my question. 😊
