I was prescribed last week 30 pills of vyvanse 30 mg dose I tried it out for a week and didn't see any changes nothing so I consulted my doctor per phone and he told me that maybe I should up my dosage and there's nothing to worry about and gave me an appointment after 2 weeks.
I was wondering if I opened my capsules and used the powder of 2 capsules of 30 mg vyvanse and mixed it with water will it be then like 60 mg vyvanse?
And is it safe to do so? And how much water should I add? I am new to the medication world so bare with me please lol
Thank you xx

Honestly, I feel like he shouldn't make you go from 30mg to 60mg. I feel he should gradually up the dose. However, if you still didn't feel anything at 60mg that would be a sure way for him to know if Vyvanse is for you. I don't know if that is what his thought process was. If you take two capsules of 30mg, you would be taking 60 mg. Why would you mix it in water? Unless there is a reason why? Ask your doctor if it is safe and if that is what he meant.
I'd also suggest waiting for the appointment and going up more slowly. You might overshoot. You don't want to over medicate or increase your side effects. And, it would likely be just as effective to take the pills at the same time rather than in water. Vyvanse is a delayed release medication, so it will work the same either way.
I" ve upped the dose to 60mg a day in extended release form. The max dose is 70mg in the UK. One has to assume it's safe - but ultimately who can say??
Its absolutely safe and the same as 60mg. To make sure take the 30 and take the other after 2hrs by pouring into 16 oz water bottle shake and sip it or chug half or all. I find Vyvanse works great in a water bottle especially as an afternoon booster with control. When i was put on vyvanse i never felt anything at all until i hit 50 . vyvanse dosages are made for kids , studies were not performed on adults so i know most ppl on vyvanse 70mg feel they benefit from twice a day and this is where patient and Dr can have huge disagreement. Vyvanse has great theraputic value and consistency it kills ADHD
Vyvanse has a ceiling effect. The 70mg is technically the highest dose for an adolescent . If they studied it on adults they'd have to make a 90 100 110 but if you're working incredibly rough hours you can take 120mg but then the drug becomes abusable in the effects are too likeable. Its usually just 70 in a.m. and a booster in the afternoon. At some point im back to the max and haven't taken enough breaks ( breaks of 10 days a month at most) are the only thing that keep me from getting out of control. The adderall xr 30s i might switch back to but they're powerful where Vyvanse is normal . the year i was off was the year i was thanking god when i finally got back on starting at 30mg vy. Then 50 60 70 and a routine. Then i lost insurance and addy xr 30 was on for 6 months which was so strong it felt like 90mg ir teva per pill . if i could only have 1 its vyvanse 70. Saved my life and keeps me out of jail . extremely theraputic and abusable. Breaks every month 1 week . its respect for a drug i cant not have. Sorry i went too far again. Rely solely on amps and u hit a brick wall. Im fortunate to have thoroughly learned the hard way. Definitely need my vy
I’m speaking from experience. Vyvanse saved my life too until it completely stopped working in 2012, and I had no idea this could even happen. My whole world fell apart and I almost lost everything I had worked so hard for from the time I began taking vyvanse. I still haven’t found anything even close to how well V worked for me in the beginning. Now I take 50mg of mydayis and 400mg of nuvigil every morning and I barely feel it. Unfortunately, Vyvanse does nothing for me now. I’d give anything for it to work like it did in the beginning.
I wouldn’t jump from 30 to 60. Please keep in mind that it does stop working after a few years of maxing out your dose, or that’s what happened to me at least. Google “vyvanse stopped working” and you’ll see others it happened to too.
