Vyvanse and Insurance issues.

Hi, I'm new to all of this but I was recommended to this site. I have been on an ongoing journey to finding the adhd medication that works best for me. After a few tries I finally found that in Vyvanse. After being on it for 2 months my insurance decided it was too expensive for them. All this time I have become acclimated to it and loved it. My Psychologist saw a huge positive impact that it was having I'm every aspect of my life. Then My insurance company sent a letter saying I had to try an alternative before I could have my Vyvanse back. I've complied and my PCP out me on Adderall. Between being off vyvanse and being on the Adderall , I've had a huge shift in mood swings, irritability, increased depression, feeling like a zombie and also stomach cramps. I've contacted my pcp and they called to appeal it especially since I've been having major side effects. My insurance still denied it even though I've done everything they've asked. So you can imagine my stress, along with my adhd and depression, has caused me to feel hopeless. Has anyone else had to fight extremely hard to get their medications? How did you handle it? How did you deal with the stress? I think it's horrible that the insurance company pretty much doesn't care that they are screwing with peoples mental health. Like its no big deal. Thanks for letting me vent in my very first blog. I appreciate the feedback and support.

There is a patient assistance program for Vyvance you can't afford it. It is through Shire. All you need to do is fill out the form and take to your doctor and they fill out the rest. You will need to send in information on insurance and income. Here is the link to the paperwork.
