Working hard to be the best I can be.

Improving listening and communication is number 1 priority.

I agree. Listening is very important. With my Adhd my attention is very easily butterflied away. With my wife I keep my eyes on her and wait until she is done explaining things before I go off half cocked doing things without understanding. Also if I have questions ask them. My wife has Add which is different than my AdHD.

I have some trouble listening if I'm not doing anything with my hands. I would suggest that if someone is trying to talk to you, try to put away your phone and/or keep your eyes on or around the other person, so you're not too distracted by the environment. Try to engage in the conversation (asking questions keeps my focus from straying) and repeating back things they said can make sure you're tracking the conversation ("So she gave you the keys?" or "It sounds like you're feeling really frustrated with your parents").

Here's my secret weapon, though. I have puddy in my desk drawer and if I'm having a particularly difficult time paying attention, I'll grab my puddy and mess with it while I listen. It helps me focus. I might bounce my leg, click a pen, fiddle with rubberbands or something else to help, too.

Good luck!

Yes it hard sometimes but it works. We are down sometimes on ourselves, but everyone has a struggle sometimes we see it and sometime not, so be patient. Loving, and try to be grateful if we get another chance to try it all again.
