I am doing residency in internal medicine. Just completed first year. 2 years remaining. We have to decide our future speciality by now. My passion was cardiology and critical care. But I do a lot of mistakes; my seniors told me to do palliative care. Keeping in view there difficulties I would like to choose a field which is relax and gets a touch of psychiatry. Palliative care is one of them. Can I get an input which fellowship should I go for, For now I can not leave internal medicine, because I am quite notorious about leaving fields prematurely.

Carrier question
I would stay in internal med at least finish it for now. Think about the palative care. It is hard because the pain for the patient. Plus you get to know patient and his pains and He's gone. New patient new pains to remember. Then He's gone. It is very hard emotionally to cope. There are some rewards. It takes very special type of person to adapt to the fellowship of death. I would think long and hard.
Namzug2 I am amazed to see your perspective of palliative care. I was fantasizing chill life with adequate money. I didnt know this painful aspect; my neurpsych eval showed fragile emotions in my personality.
Thank you so much. Looks like you are a doctor, can you recommend few options for fellowship.
Sherilikhan61 Thank you for your observations but I am not a Doctor but a male nurse. I do not know of any fellowships right now. I will keep you in mind if I hear of any. All I can say now is follow your heart. It will get you where you want to go. Correct your mistakes develop methods to catch your mistakes! That way you be known for being right on! It will be your strength and you will be resilient! Make your weaknesses your strength.
Yes you are right Namzug2, I have experienced it; fixing mistakes, making strategies, that have become my strenght, and spinal reflex... AND resilience...
