Have you talk to you Dr. about it, I have ADHD as well and never had medical but the last time I when to my Dr. and I mentioned that I have been worse with ADHD the lately. He mentioned, sometimes when your adult it can get worse or you may have to take medication for it. I’ve started taking Saffron pills 50mg with Brain balance which you can get off Amazon and it’s been helping me focus and not be as space. It don’t have the side effects that most of the medicine does and I really didn’t want to take any more medicine then I had to. I hope that helps you I know you can google about the saffron and I believe vitamin D is really good to take together. Best of luck.
Like anirush said, some of us also have ADHD, but even those who don't have learned experience from an outside perspective. Ask whatever you'd like.
You are welcome to seek help here! There are other folks on here who have ADHD themselves, not just parents, and the parents would all happily help you with what they have learned from helping their kids. Ask away.
Hi, welcome!
there is a also a:
“CHADD's Adult ADHD Support” forum, in which you can ask questions, but many parents with kids might be ADHD too, so it could be beneficial reading along. I don’t have children, but i’m on guanfacine which is mostly prescribed to (young) children and this side of the forum has been great to learn some strategies and share my experiences as an adult 😃
We’ve had young people with ADHD ask questions here before. You might be able to search for those posts. Also, as several people have said, many of us have ADHD too. So ask any questions you have!
If you are having touble starting, you may want to consider seeing if there are any mental health crisis lines in your area. (They are for more than just suicide prevention). It may sound a bit extreme, but they may have connections in your area that they could refer you to, and you could talk to someone now. They may also have some ideas if you are in a more rural setting where the resources tend to be a bit scarce.
That aside, you will want to talk with your doctor and eventually get screened by a mental health provider. The screening information will help your doctor or psychologist diagnose you better. ADHD often comes with other baggage like ODD, OCD, etc. while you know there is an issue, there may be other things as well. That testing will be an all day/half day thing, and they test for things like mental organization, reaction time, focus, recall and a slew of other things.
If and when you get around to medication, do yourself a favor and ask about genetic testing like genesight, that has helped immensely to focus in on what meds work with my daughter and which don't.
Hello PadtaWater,Kudos to you for looking for support. That is not an easy task. As may replies have stated: welcome, take a look around and ask us anything. These forums are to help, encourage and let you know you are not alone.
What's on your mind? How can we help?
