My daughters therapist suggested she would do well in a group therapy session. She is having difficulty in school. She's not getting along well with other students and isn't comfortable sharing her work even with her teachers. It's rather odd for this year, she is 13. So I've hunted high and low and can't find a group therapy for her age. Only one I found was a little over an hour away which would be a long way for a school night. I'm in a pretty big city and close to others, but can't find anything. Anyone have any tips for how to find one? Its sad how hard it is to find help. I am going to try an online group thing I found while I keep looking, but I think in person would be better.

Group Therapy
We have a children's psychiatric hospital in our area, and they've been super helpful for us in the past. My son was involved in a partial program there once, but that was years ago, and I can still call and get referrals and advice from the staff. Is there a similar facility in your area with staff that could point you in the right direction? Can the therapist who recommended group therapy find a group? I mean, they recommended it. They should be able to provide references, right?
Does your daughter’s school have any social workers or therapists that offer small group sessions during school hours? My son has a small social skills group he attends right at school. We don’t see any improvements from these talk sessions but that’s another topic.
