My 14 yo daughter is on day two of the lowest starting dose of Atomoxitine. I do not like what what I am seeing. Her behavior is starting to mimic what we saw during a very difficult experiences while on antidepressants (Fluoxetine and sertraline).
I realize it takes several weeks to start seeing improvements but waiting for the antidepressants she was on (almost a year ago) to work did not end well and I do not want to repeat a similar mistake.
Would two days be way too soon to pull the plug on Atomoxitine?? Has anyone had a similar experience of failure with SSRI and then successfully or unsuccessfully taken Atomoxitine?
It’s been a long road and she has tried both stimulant molecules at lowest does and did not tolerate them well (anger and increased impulsivity). Guanfacine XR worked fairly well at 2mg but did not help with her anxiety. We titratrated Up to 4mg dosage in hopes of seeing additional improvements but we only saw a blunting effect.
I will contact her doctor in the morning with my concerns. Any thoughts or experiences shared would be appreciated
