I would love to hear what different activities you have found to interest your child instead of screens?

EXERCISE! Legos, Rubic cubes, puzzles, chores, recycling for $$ and hobbies they love ( indoor and outdoors).

My 9-year-old son likes 3D wooden puzzles, Magnet 3D Puzzle Balls, Kiwi Co Maker Crates, origami, riding his scooter, playing with his RC car, skipping rocks in the water, playin in the water, Lego, helping build IKEA furniture, riding his bike, reading Minecraft how-to books, Tangram puzzles, magic and graphic novels.

- I go to thrift stores and find these items on sale. You just have to make sure they are complete. It’s also a less expensive way to discover interests.

- Check out books at the library.

The love of these items gives my son motivation do do chores, his homework, etc. Life changing!

My son looves his Kiwi crates! We also get the atlas crate for learning about other countries and cultures. It makes it extra special that he gets mail once a month that's addressed to him

My son loves to read books about video games almost as much as he loves video games! We get minecraft and splatoon books from the library.

Feeding our animals (we live on A farm) and cleaning his animal cages. Also he goes to math tutoring 3 days a wk and loves it! Getting the mail, studying games to help him for his tests at school

Playing outdoors is always the best place to start. Besides that, my son loved making things and building things, he had Legos and Knex as well as some other building sets. He never bothered with the suggested patterns, he would come up with his own ideas and spend hours tinkering. We would find them at yard sales and flea markets. Some other folks have already suggested the library and graphic novels. Another suggestion is matchbox and hot wheels type cars and the tracks sets for them, a kid can build all kinds of racing set-ups.
