Sometimes I can’t tell if he is just not motivated or the medication is not working. Or if he is talking so much during his zoom meet because he is excited to actually talk to other children or because his med is not working. Or if he is not doing some of the work because he is too comfortable At home.
We are currently going through med trails. We started Strattera in Sept and have gone up little by little and now are on his max dose. So it is that time to re-evaluate if we stay on this or change meds.
I really don’t want to make a change and try new meds when I can’t really tell from an in person classroom stand point vs at home. But I also want to be pro active and change the meds (specifically if it might benefit him) to be ready in time and have it in his system when/if school starts in person learning again.

I'm no expert, but the medication doesn't "know" if he is in school or not, or remote school, zoom, whatever. If the medication is working, you should see a noticeable improvement in behavior overall.
We did a trial of medication in the middle of summer, we had absolutely nothing going on, and I knew it was working because he behaved much calmer, followed directions easily, and did some chores without complaining. He also played with his toys happily on his own for most of the day (normally he'd be bouncing off the walls, running, shouting, arguing, refusing to do chores, etc.)
So, do you see a noticeable improvement in behavior compared to before medication? If there's no change, it might not be working (but you should definitely talk to your pediatrician or doctor who prescribed the medication first.)
I agree with Late2Party..The things that were a struggle, listening to you when called, excessive talking, misbehaving, not being able to sit for class/table work. Should all go away when medication is working.
Are you working with a child psychiatrist? They are best fit to help you with life long management.
