What resources are available to help parents and children when both have adhd
We struggle with that at our house. People want to recommend books, but I'm a working mom with a total ADHD house. I'm not going to get through books right now! I do love shorter videos such as those on YouTube by How to ADHD (Jessica McCabe). My daughter and I both love her and she has lots of practical tips. I struggle to have enough structure to provide my daughter with structure, but I have been trying to simplify life as much as possible and to celebrate the creativity and enthusiasm for life that we share.
This is spot on. I'm trying to give myself structure and my son structure and it gets overwhelming. One of us ends up unstructured. On the weeks where I get it right for both if us it is smooth sailing. Stay as organized as possible. Get sleep, and GET A BREAK. You need some alone time to recharge. Most importantly for me, I have to walk away. I have a short temper and we feed off of each other. If I feel myself boiling over I just walk away and collect myself.
His constant moving and volume really agitate me sometimes. Which is funny bc he is annoyed by the same thing. I think there's also the issue of seeing your weaknesses in them. It messes with your own self confidence a little bc you become very self aware of the things you do and say etc when you see them doing the same thing. It can be emotionally draining looking in that mirror all day.
