ADHD families need love too

How do adhd families get sense of belonging, feeling like they fit in somewhere? We are to the point where we want to move but want to go to a place where there is much support, ie families get together and socialize and support each other. We are in eastern canada at the moment.

Absolutely ADHD families do need love. I think no matter where you live, you have to seek it out. Do the research before hand what is available. So maybe pick a place that has parent support groups for kiddos with ADHD and you might find other families there. My child went to a summer daycamp for kids with ADHD and we met a family there and our kids are still friends and we are still friends with the parents and see each other regularly. It is important for all parties involved to find their tribe.

Thank you for ur reply...that's the thing...there are no support groups that actually get together. We asked on facebook group but people answered with a theres no actual meetups. Kinda not good cause we all really do need each other.

We are in a similar boat. That's part of why I joined this online group. A place to at least hear about other families and get advice and support. It really does help to at least have this group. I've looked for Summer camps and support groups but haven't found any in our area either :( We did find another family at our kiddo's school who has similar issues and we're slowly all becoming friends.

I hear ya, it's so difficult....and it does take time to find others in same boat. I'm glad to hear you connected with another family. This online group is great...it cant replace face to face but it's great support all the same.
