I want to say don't give up on your kids. I have two boys 13 and 21 with adhd and asd.Older son jacob has been on a few adhd mediction. I went through lot with the school we went to. We moved to a different town 11 years ago due to dads job. I found out when he was in sixth grade he needed to be in a special day class with a smaller classroom setting. They also gave him less work to do because of his attention but he enjoyed school and did well. He graduated from high school with a silver tasel. He is now in a program for adults with disabilities on working and taking a class so dont give up. Also my younger son kristopher is in 8th grade has been on ritalin and now on aderrall he is doig pretty good i am trying to stay on top of his work and medication. He also has aba therapy. My best advice is good communication. Have any questions I am here to try to answer.

Thank you. Your timing is impeccable. Although actually I’m not sure the last time I was not a wreck about my sweet daughter’s future. As the new school year starts and I still feel working a job I’ve loved myself would be a great disservice to my daughter’s education. Diagnosed officially on paper finally it is being recognized that she is dealing with dyslexia and other learning disabilities I am determined to force the school to provide her instruction using the most successful method. Which needs a teacher to be certified to teach. Which costs the school money. And I’m sure you all know what a challenge I am looking at (and that is putting it mildly!). 🥴😳

This was so nice to read- I some days feel like giving up with my 8 year old, we are on vyvanse right now and it’s not been good. School is so hard here in CT, the expectations are so high and I feel sad and desperate on my sons bad days (he also has some great days and is the sweetest kid at his core). I’m so happy your older son found his way and your younger son is on a manageable plan. I wish you all continued success!

I love to hear the positive stories of children who become successful adults and are able to graduate. These type of stories really encourage me and give me hope when I feel so confused and unsure about my son's future. Thank you for sharing!

I feel the same about my 7 year old ADHD/ODD. Some of the impulsive things he has done would get him into some major trouble as an adult. At this point, all he talks about is wanting to be a police officer when he grows up, but, as hopeful as I am he will follow his dreams, I am still very worried about him doing something that will make those dreams impossible.

So yes, I agree, these stories of successful ADHD adults are VERY encouraging. Thank you for sharing.
