If you are constantly reprimanded for your behaviors brought about due to ADHD, your self esteem is definitely adversely affected!!
Now that my grandson is medicated and impulse control is improved, his self esteem is slowly building. His counselor works on it weekly and we watch for and reinforce positively whenever we catch him doing things well (related to managing adhd behaviors or not). He has started to acknowledge and agree when receiving praise for positive behavior (saying things like “yes, I did work hard on that”). Baby steps!!
