I am in tears as I write this. When I send my 6 year old to school it is heartbreaking he gets overlooked by his teacher and other staff they treat him differently the don't seem to want help him he seems like he is a burden to them basically they don't want to deal with him because he has ADHD. I have watched kids bully him I have brought it to the attention of his teacher and principal and they blow it off. They talk to him so rudely, they don't seem to want to listen when I try to help them understand what he has, I am at a loss. How do I try to get them to understand that its not his fault he has ADHD?

well it's heartbreaking to see this because it's WRONG! He can't help himself - his disorders take over and it is just sad when the teachers, other students and staff don't treat him or other kids with ADHD and disorders in ways that they should. The best you can do for him is to be sure his symptoms are well settled. We had plenty of issues too but now things are a lot better. Medication helps. We use natural nutrient treatment to manage, the SNAP from adhdsnap. com is helping tremendously for us. Get your son managed well, stay on top of his accommodations for school and things can get better for him.

I hope you get an IEP at school. That's specifies how your son can be treated, what modifications they need to make in class. It is the law that they follow it.

Bullying is something my daughter and now her 2 boys have put up with in school. They have all found friends but have been bullied by others.

Bullying is also against the law. Document incidents that your son tells you about. Continue to discuss this with teachers and upper management. Most schools have programs or times when they discussed bullying with classes.

Kids are mean and immature, they need to be taught the proper way to act.

It’s hard to be in our position. To watch your kid not get invited to parties and teachers act like oh my gosh that kid is here. I would encourage you to call an IEP meeting and bring up the issues you see going on and try to resolve them. Good luck!
