I want to tell my story. My older son Jacob is now 21 with acondroplsia. Was born 7 weeks early spent 24 days in the hospital. Because all of his milestones where delayed he has been getting help since he was 18 months old. He was in a special preschool program. He got speech therapy in school. He was diagnosed with adhd in the middle of first grade. He started on ritalin went to concerta and vivsanse and now on adderrall. He was in the resource specialist from first grade on. He should of been in a special day class then because he had a short attention span. He was i n one in sixth grade til he graduated from high school. They accomadted his attention span. He graduated high school with a 3.4 and a silver tassell. I then got him tested again under asd and got him in our tri county regional center that helps special needs people. He is ina program with special needs adults working and classes. Kristopher is 12 and has been in a program since he was a year. He has been in a program since 18 months. He started talking after 3. He has been in a special day program from the beginning of school. In the 7th grade he is doing well has a 3.5 gpa and is in only two classes the rest regular. I am here for support and encouragement snd dont give up on your kids be ther addvocte

Thanks so much for sharing. You are right. Our children need us to be their advocates to help build supports along the way in order for them to be able to do the work and be successful in learning and progressing.
